took the missus camping up at some high mountain lakes in ID. Here's Stroud Lake:

East Central Idaho. Closest to the town of Leadore. Head due west out Lee Cr Rd, then up Big 8 Mile Cr and access to all three lakes is from there.

I am in the beginning of planning a trip out there, and want to make sure that I include this location. Looks beautiful! Thank you

In that case, I have to recommend that you include a day or two in Sawmill Canyon. Literally one of the most beautiful and healthy valleys around here. It's in the same general area as the lakes. The mtn pass to get there is usually passable after late June.

@TDavidson @musthave If you check out the map link that @ralphy1997 supplied, and switch it to satellite view, you'll see the trails better. 22 miles southeast from Leadore on hwy 28 is the junction to trail 296. There's a sign to the Hahn townsite. Take the 296 up to the summit (alternatively, the 918 is a fun climb!) Once at the summit the 102 heads down into Sawmill Canyon. Awesome drive, fantastic views.

Thanks for posting, looks like a great area. I can't wait to head out west next year.

Finally almost back to the ponderosa

Spectacular day. Lots of people on the trail and most were very sociable.

Felt sorry for this guy though:

He had left a note, and was coming back the next day to repair.
