had a discussion today and someone said they would not use a clutch fan cause they cause overheating at prolonged low speeds

I thought it was a temp controlled spring type to engage the fan or does it have to be up to a certain RPM?

guy was not a cruiser guy so he might be off base but it got me wondering if a straight drive fan was preferable

Clutch fan works fine all day at a crawl. No issues.

I wheel in AZ any time of the year, yes, the clutch fan does a fine job

I have an auxiliary electric pusher fan, but usually I do not need it while wheeling/crawling, but on the highway at sustained high speeds in the dead heat of summer
