Doesn't look like a Toyota part at all!!
I think the coil does, minus it has been painted, maybe not the other junk, I have not seen one exactly like that before

It appears as mentioned above to be a repainted 75-mid 77 points style semi electronic coil/resisitor/ignitor setup.

Thanks has anyone had any luck with these ? If its worth keeping I might transfer it to one of the other motors

It's a 75-76 "semi-electronic" coil/ignitor with ballast resistor, normally triggered by points. Mine always worked well.
The best feature, is that if the ignitor portion failed, you could bypass it and run the coil just with the points. That was a good limp home option and it was even explained in the manual!
Anyway, if your going to all that trouble, it's worth it to convert to the full electronic set up from an FJ60.
I think I have a couple of spares of this one shown if you need one as I no longer use that type.
