I don't think I can bring myself to buying farm raised shrimp ever again. The added salt factor with the wild mixed with cilantro and lime juice cant compare.

After bagging up 40 lbs of roasted chilis last weekend, green chili chuck roast in the slow cooker tonight.:bounce::bounce2:

Tofu, man just never could develop a taste for that. Texture all wrong too. But tempeh I found quite acceptable, mate of mine used to make tempeh burgers that tasted real good. And at least it has some texture to it.

I don't like it... My wife loves it along with tempeh. Spressomon has a tempeh sandwich on here somewhere that looked pretty good.

Found it thanks - it does look very good. With summer approaching here it is nice to start looking at lighter meal options again.

We made the jump into The Big Green Egg a few days ago and haven't looked back. It's a little spendy, but seems to be worth every penny. My gas grill is just taking up space now and I don't know how much I'll ever use it again.

We made pizza on it tonight. Amazing.

I have 2 big gas grills, a homebuilt smoker and a charcoal grill... I need to consolidate down to two..

Sorry no pics. Oven would not fire up, made nachos on the grill. Used a cookie sheet.

Took some time off today and went to the gorge for some fishing.. The rainbows have been killer the past 2 weeks. We limited out in about 2 hours (8 fish) 14#s of fillets. Not too shabby..

So grilled trout a couple of ways..

1) salt and pepper
2) my rub
3) OB's Irie pepper sauce

All were great..

Nice fish. I'm jealous, I wish we could catch fish like that around here (and eat it).

Wow R....some nice bright red rainbow meat! Scud filled waters?

They stock the hell out of the gorge... Kokanee were absolutley awesome this year as well. Rainbows on avg are about 2.5 pounds each per the neighborhood game warden. These were all caught from the shore.

Half of these were bleed (gills ripped as soon as they were caught- orange/red meat) and the others were NOT (darker red meat and better flavor IMO)

As you might have thought, judging by my lack of presence in this section for the last 3 months, I haven't been around to cook much. Days off have been met with rain, prior commitments or laziness. So I really looked forward to introducing yesterday mornings ribeye purchase to the high heat of the Egg. No rain, fairly warm, got the leaves blown from the deck and yard, only got 2 guys on the job to babysit from afar, bottle of brown liquor on hand.

Then...crap. Gotta hit Bass Pro Shops to supply for this weeks trip to the coast. It's okay, plenty of time.

Then...crap. Got a call to take a friend somewhere (he can't drive yet due to a bike wreck). "And can you pick me up, too". It's okay, plenty of time.

Then...crap. Forgot I had made plans to catch up with another ONSC'er. It's okay, just one beer; plenty of time.

Then...the wife and I pick up the friend on our way home when she states that she needs to eat now - the hour in the bar, smelling and seeing food, drove her past the limits of waiting for me to cook. Crap.

One moderately mediocre mushroom pizza later, it's almost 9:00pm and I'm full. BUT, it's okay, I'll grill it in the morning.

Then...oh, fudddddddddddge. But I didn't say fudge. The skies opened up as I was waking. Yes, both of them. That's how much rain there is. Slated to continue all day. Crap. And now I'm heading to work. I guess it's cast iron on the stove for me tonight. I wonder if those brussels sprouts I bought about 10 days are still good....

EDIT: I forgot to add that I spotted this thing at the grocery store in the morning before normal people were even awake. Made the day worthwhile.
