What to do with a pto

That is one big knob. I am planning on fabricating a shift lever on the floor for it. But if I could find a cable like you have that could work also.

That is the standard Ramsey winch control cable and knob. Probably won't be to hard to install a linkage on the floor but the cable was standard. The one on 62 was since back east to use a 45. I could not find anyway to remove the knob from the cable and didn't want to brake it.

Living in the past what is that box under the dash by the passengers right foot. Looks like sometime of heaterorventbox? Never seen it before?

I have that same PTO driven saw in the yard for yard art

have 2 OEM PTO's in the shop....someday I may hook one up

You can cut a huge amount of wood in a short time with a saw like that. Ask me how I know. :crybaby:

I think I would leave it as yard art. It's much easier to take a chainsaw to the log then to haul a log to the saw. Would need to cut anyway so I could lift it with my bad back.

Not sure if the Ramsey PTO is as strong as the OEM units but it does have the advantage of more room to run the exhaust above the skid plate. I have a OEM unit that has signs of the case melting from being to close to the exhaust. PTO was still working but if nothing else it's heating the oil in the transfer case which isn't a good thing unless you live at the north pole. The PO welded a extra plate to the skid plate to protect the PTO shown in the last picture.

Glade to see it does not interfere with the skid plate. It looks like it tucks up under the truck nicely.

The desire to keep the same amount of fingers, hands and arms I was born with makes it a safe bet it will remain yard art.

I got it from a guy named Stump

you will need to take pictures of that :)

my power wagon and jeep both had belt driven govenours otherwise the engine will die under load such as a buzz rig or post hole digger .if you try to use your foot on the gas it makes the truck jump up and down and usually breaks something same with a large welder .you can also google monroe lift for more info and farm jeep .can i say jeep on here?!!!!!!!!

more ramsey drive pictures. this is the one off my 45

Why not a snow blower? I searched Google images for an FJ with a PTO snow blower thinking someone must have done it before. I'm sure its been thought of. How come no one pulled it off? There must be a reason it wont work. Thoughts?

At one time I had found a pic of an old 2A Jeep with a pto driven snowblower mounted on the rear driven off a pto . There are some small sized versions of these blowers made for farm tractors , just have to figure out the hangers/lift (small atv winch) and the pto shaft setup .
I'd love to try it , wonder if a front drive unit could be made to work ?

I finished the first part of the installation, the pto gear box. I rebuilt the box with new bearings and seals. I then made a spacer for the transmission output shaft. Put it all together and the box was very stiff going into gear. After taking it on and off a few times I found some small burrs on the gear that didn't look like much but after removing them it shifts fine. Then made a shifting lever, kind of combined the cable and shift lever idea into a push pull knob with linkages. This morning I made a the knob and plan on engraving PTO pull on the black epoxy that is inlet in the brass. Just waiting on the epoxy to cure before I finish it.
Here are some pictures.

I also purchased a York ac compressor from the junk yard. that will be one of the things it drives. You can see it on the floor board behind the gear shifter.

Also thinking about buying this to go out the back, through the bumper. it is off of a ford 9n tractor. Looks like it's got what I need for a fraction of the cost of buying new parts.now I just need to find a couple of universal joints.

I'd run the compressor off the motor, so it'll work indepently of the speed you're driving. I did know someone who used one on a diesel can to run a hydraulic pump for a concrete saw though.

I'd like to get my hands on one to work with the 2.5 ton winch that I've got that was originally on a Matador.

i had a 55 gmc panel truck with a coleman 4x4 conversion that had a 6' snowblower on the front run by the pto ,wish i would have kept that one .putting a blower on a fj40 would not be that hard you could probably use a converted 3 point hitch one just need a way to lift it

No need for snow blowers in Oklahoma. If I still lived in Chicago that would be a good idea. Not planning on using the air compressor on the go. To hard to get the air chuck on the valve when the tires are spinning. :). more interested in being able to air up tires and maybe run a nail gun or small air tools when I don't have electricity. I plan on a belt drive that will go under the back of the fj40 and still using the electric clutch so I can choose to run the compressor or not with the pto on.

Finished engraving the knob and thinned it down a bit on the lathe.

Not mine, but one like it... 6600 lbs PTO winch.

Those trucks have character. When were they built? I like the little radiator sticking out the front. Looks like a pug dog.
