So I dont think i have a mechanical problem and I dont have enough information to determine my own mileage. But here it is. I bought my 96 LC-80 with the 4.5L motor seven days ago. The PO had a full tank of fuel in it. Well, the gauge was on the "full" line. And the previous owner warned me that the gas mileage is extremely poor . He even asked me if I had another car for long travels(I do). And FYI: I am unconcerned with fuel milage and am not complaining. So in an average work week I drive a total of 5miles and on the weekends, anywhere from 0-50 miles depending on what we do. Well, in the last 7days I have done 210 miles. 50miles was just getting it home and about 75 of those miles was pulling a trailer with 3 ATV's. The rest was just "glory driving" my new toy. The funny thing is that its been on "E" for about 20miles. From my research I see it has a 25gallon fuel tank. So on average, should i expect 200miles from 20gallons?
I did a search and found fuel mileages ranging from 5-6 and as high as 17mpg. So, im just curious what your tire and motor combo is and what kinda mileage are you getting. also please note any uogrades that have helped conserve fuel.

The orange light comes on at 260mi~ Takes 20 gallons to fill which leaves about 5 gallons in the tank which would give me another 65 miles. 260+65= 325mpt~ I run on Toyo Open Country AT's 275/75 R16

At an average of 7200 ft elevation I get 11-13 mpg. a tank usually goes 250-280 miles depending on type of driving. With 33" BFG's, roof rack with spare tire and drawer system in the back.

145k, stock on 285/75's. winter gas - 10mpg, spring/summer/fall - 14ish. all city driving

97 lx450, mileage 223k. owned for almost a year. Average mpg is 13.5 over the last 2k, according to my autogauge.

96 FZJ80. 175k mikes. 265/75/R16.

155k on mine. Just filled up tonight, 292 miles, 21.45 gal, 13.613 mpg. This is pretty much what I get most of the time. DD with only 9 mile commute to work, all flat and 3 short miles of it freeway.

'94- STOCK -no CEL 230 k mi- could use fine tuning- light foot- town-etc-work- WINTER COLD- (9)10-11. now 13.5 again.

I have checked my mileage at every fill up since I bought it in July 2013 (almost 20k miles ago). 285s, a lift and some armor and I'm getting between about 13.5 and 15.5 mpg depending mostly on the time of the year (worse in the winter).

Stock gears and 35" open countries + tons of mods (weight) = 9-10 MPG at 7,000 Ft before I advanced my timing. After Advancing my timing from 0 to 7 degrees I saw 12 MPG and more power.

'97 LX 450 205K, 275/70R16, recent tune up, stock weight, 13.6 around town, low 18's on interstate with cruise set at 70mph. Coming from a 2005 Dodge Power Wagon (9-12 mpg), I am thrilled with the mileage from my FJZ80.
