Hi All:

"Destin," congrats on post # 1000! :D

Regards,

Alan

Hi All, after seeing the chilli pepper red pearl FJ40 hardtop on this forum just recently I decided to paint mine the same colour, just putting it all back together it looks fantastic and when the sun hits it the coppery gold colour comes out of the pearl looks amazing,as I found out today as I moved it outside my workshop for the first time. My forty is a 1982 LX powersteering, disc brakes and came with factory aircond which I took out as I am building it up as a softtop has a 4inch suspension lift and a 2 inch bodylift and 35 Pro Comp Extreme Terrain tyres, I would love to post up some pics but I don't think I qualify yet as I haven't had many posts. I will post some more And maybe some pics in a few weeks.

I started trying to work out exactly WTF I was thinking when I thought it was a good idea to cut it up and extend the tub ..

Oh well more room for the esky

I took every body part but the tube to the sandblaster on sunday. the tub will go in a few weeks. sorry i dont have any pics yet.

Joe

Did lots of body work and prep! Need to stop the rust before winter hits.

The left side was brutal, PO did a quick cover up to pass safety, this is what I uncovered.:crybaby:

More body work pics, got help from a guy who does autobody for a living, learned SO much in two days. He did the etch primer and primer spray for me. I would have been using spray bombs and making a mess of it for sure!

Destin,
I just don't get tired of looking at that chasis. It looks like something out of a museum or an old brochure. The tires and hubcaps seal the deal. Nice job.

I got the automatic choke working on my Weber 32/36 (for the first time in 6 years) and got the fan on my rear heater spinning again. Still wondering what the wipers will decide to do when / if the rains come. I think now I understand why some people classify Landcruisers as 'Adventure' vehicles, and it has nothing to do with where they'll take you.:)

Thanks man :D
I am having the stock oil canister powder coated, then will pop that on when it is done.

I hear ya about the adventure machine bit.
My wipers just move the big water away hehe. :D

I started on a pair of half doors for my new project 40. They have small storage bins at the bottom. All that's left to do is box in the tops & sides. I know the pass side door will hit the gas tank w/ the added width, but since I don't have a floor, I'll just move the tank in some.

replaced my radiator, water hoses, put on a new webber 38mm carb, new clutch master and slave cylinder, still have a dui distribitor and wires to put on....

tuneup, adjusted valves, installed CB for hunting season, serviced it. Amsoil 15/45...playing with the timing to try to squeeze a little more MPG. also readjusted the carb to make it a little leaner.
changed oil in diffs and tranny and transfer....all to synthetic.

Jello All, engine work

Hello All, I just ran a compression test. I now need to figure out what these numbers mean.
