Pulled my ’74 -40 out of the garage so I could help my son with his first fab project ton his F150 – he is going for the pre runner look. We got the main bumper rail bent just right then had to quit so he could get ready for the homecoming dance (requisite pic with mom before the big night out).

It is so cool to see him this excited bout making his rig his own, we are already planning the next three projects after this one ( BTW her loves the FJ40 and drives it like a champ, but acknowledges , that it is Dad’s rig)

Thanks for the kit Aatlas1x.

I picked up my 65 fj40 about 2 weeks ago and just got it running for the first time today. Sounds good, running on all cylinders, and no unusual engine noise. Granted it was for only about 10 seconds on starting fluid. Waiting on gas tank to get cleaned and sealed, and didnt have any clean gas to fill the carb bowl with. But Im happy :D. Hoping to have it on the road next week :steer:. Need to flush the brake and clutch lines and install new shoes, 15x8 wheels and 33 BFG MTs and 4" lift with new shocks should be in by Friday.

Drove the 'ole girl for the first time in nearly a year. The motor seized last fall and then I broke my back and was laid up (5 vertabra and 4 ribs). Thanks to alot of help from some fellow club members (especially Trollhole for finding me a motor) and alot of hard work on the part of my UC/LCLC brothers and my step dad putting in countless hour the 40 is up and running. After 8 months of healing so am I. So I guess were both off to a new start. I cant thank everyone enough for helping out. Driving my 40 again was like 10 Christmas rolled up into one.

My new engine and one of her put back together. Check out my build. https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series...storation.html

that's a nice early 40. where'd you find that?

Found it on Albuquerque Craigslist, and it happened to be in my neighborhood in Rio Rancho. Had been sitting for atleast 10 years. I will be keeping it original, other than the lift, wheels and Weber carb I just installed. I may have to go power steering and brakes someday as I do plan on driving it quite often, well see.

Likely next winter it will recieve a body off restoration. My brothers and have been restoring a 66 Bug, first body work project (full fabrication stuff with dollies and hammers and english wheel) but going well and learning quickly. After figuring out complex curves of a VW, this Cruiser should be cake :D.

Great vid(s) Sounder!

The troopie is looking great. Hope you have a blast on your Strz trip, look forward to some photos.

Travis.

Oh, nearly forgot. Today i finished wiring up the LED lighting under the canopy ive built over the last few weeks!

Added jack rod holders and roundeyes for the headlights. What a difference! If you are still running around with the stock lights, do yourself a favor and do this upgrade. The difference is like night and day (literally!) and only takes 10 minutes tops to do. Next up: steam wash underneath and motor, then rust treat, then paint chassis and underbody black.

sweet. Post more pics please. You can start a thread in the 25 section. We like early cruisers there. looks fairly rust free so you shouldn't have to do much body work

I will as soon as I get more pics, my garage is now a total mess, and there are tools and cans all over the cruiser now. A little embarassed to post that mess :o

new seat belts -

new parts for my 74 FJ40
bought a old OEM Kayline soft top and bows - should be here next week
seatbelts for the front - my old belts were a bit worn

bought the belt on Flea Market and they are a PERFECT FIT!!

It has been raining here about every day for the past few weeks and I have had no time to work on the FJ as it is outside under a tarp. I said - the heck with it and went out with my tools in a light drizzle an put them on. I am getting cabin fever!!

Now we can cruise around a bit safer. My old belts were not totally retracting and they were totally sun faded.

20 minutes of wrenching and adjusting = a lifetime of safety

I finally got the panels lined up. ALL my doors now close like they should so I am happy. Not going for a restore but would like things to look half way decent. Now I can get back to finishing up some welding. Been working on this for almost a year now. I have already cutout a bunch of cancer so Im working at it.
