Interesting. Thanks for the link. My dive watch has phosphorescing markers, didn't think it was tritium but could be as well.
Isn't real tritium radioactive and a controlled product?

I remember people talking about it in our ACOGs back during the war.

real tritium is indeed radioactive. But it releases alpha radiation. Which doesn’t have much range and is blocked by your skin (iirc). It’s not like the gamma stuff that would make you die a terrible death.

I don’t think it’s “controlled” per se. especially in the amounts we are talking about. But could be wrong.

The navy and likely other armed forces controlled their tritium sights as radioactive mainly because they are held to a higher standard. We had a whole locker full of controlled ACOGS in our facility. Think about if it got out that the military was dumping their “radioactive material” in the dumpster. They also controlled their smoke detectors because of the source contained in them.

Dog, meet pony. You’re both late for the show.

Ridiculous. But you’re right, the narrative lead line would indeed read “dumping radioactive material,” facts be d@mned.

And that's the main reason nuclear in general isn’t as big as it should be. Fear and misunderstanding.

Hopefully this changes. Soon. We're going to need all the power we can get in short order.

Well, they learned from their mistakes. As an Army brat back in the 60’s in Germany, I can tell you that we often snuck into the dumps on base and found live ammo, hypodermic syringes with all kinds of needles, and other goodies that never were meant to be in those dumps. We had lots of fun with the tracer rounds, laying them on the nearby train tracks and watching the fun when the train came. Until one day the train came full of German soldiers….

That's a great story! I hope the rounds were pointed East.

Of course, if you're going to post shiny clean engine photos like that, you have to tell us how many miles and what type of oil you use! :)

Ha! 180k, and for the last 15k or so I've been running Advanced Lubrication 5W-20 with an Amsoil filter. Before that was Amsoil Signature 0w-20 and 5w-30. Pretty religious about 3-4k change interval with filter every time. Nice and shiny!

Nice, I would have expected more varnish at that mileage!

Looks great!

I would give you the spiel about leaving money on the table with that oci, but those results are amazing.

I am curious if you could have stretched just a bit further with using such good hooch?

Thanks! I could probably extend to 4 or 5k, but I figure I’ll blow that extra $120 on crap anyway, so might as well just go to oil lol

I get it.

Do you ever do UOA's? If so, can you post results?
