Today I installed the BeatSonic CarPlay module that Santa left under the tree. I'll be curious to see if I want to use Gaia or OnX (I hate subscriptions though) but I'm kinda stoked about getting OBD Fusion on the dash. Dial gauges would be cool but this is still informative. What other PIDs should I add?

I occasionally get intrusive thoughts about starting over with a southern 2016+ LX570. This slee build occupies a lot of space in my head:

But at this point most of the brittle bits and rubber have been replaced. And I like being married.

You could always start over with an LXOT. Just saying. 😈

Installed Bush Co 270 XT Max awning.

Need to make some adjustments to the mounting brackets to fit the Dissent rack better. I may also add two more brackets (kit comes with 3) as this thing is really massive and heavy.

Drained and filled the coolant. I wanted to see how much I'd get by JUST using the pax side block drain. VERY easy to access with creative socket extensions and turning the wheels right to full lock. It turns out you can get most of the coolant volume out, but there's about a gallon left in the radiator after the pax petcock stops flowing on level ground. I (gasp) didn't do the driver's side as I figured the multiple times I have drained and filled just the radiator has replaced enough to let that volume go. I got about 2.7 gallons total volume out using this method. Maybe leaving approx. 0.3 gallons on the driver's side?

I think this might be on the agenda for Leonard come spring. Was originally thinking CBI covert, but now leaning toward a plate bumper for better protection, both wildlife and thrown gravel from winter roads. On my last three Land Cruisers I've had a hoop and really enjoy it as a corner reference. But this Sahara install looks especially nice on a later 570.

That's my hesitation. I'm rare to deploy an awning because of the hassle factor. I love the truly freestanding Bush Co, but have concerns about the mass and size. Please report back after you've used it for a while.

While I haven’t used it for real yet, it deploys in less than 30 seconds. Could not be simpler. Storing it back takes a bit longer for the Max version as you have flip the center canvas over the rear arms. The first few times I had to think about it to get the arms to fold up.

I think for overlanding trips I’ll definitely use it but for day trip wheeling or highway road trips, maybe not. Easy of deployment and stoutness to handle unexpected wind gusts were my primary drivers. We’ll see and I’ll report back.

@kcjaz what are those hooks (snaps?) that you have down the passenger side right below the window line?

Sliders from SDHQ Black Friday
Center mount holes were missing from my ‘18 LC200, so I had to drill them.

Hooked up to the dump trailer and picked up some sticks around our property all the while the old lab was taking a nap in the back of the cruiser. Second row and third row removed. It’s like a giant troopy. At 205k, the ‘13 cruiser is perfect for beating through the woods after the previous owner already had pinstripes and hit a deer with it.

I was getting so tired of the dome light button not being illuminated (I drive a lot at night) so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Installed some tritium tubes above and below the button to make it easy to find even when the car is turned off. I will never understand why Toyota didn't illuminate these buttons from the factory. They look slightly brighter in the pic from the exposure but they work really well. Now I won't be unlatching my sunglass holder every time I want to turn on the light

I ordered the same and installed one next to the on/off switch. Man, it's got to be one of my favorite upgrades. I struggled for years fumbling around at night for that dang switch. Now trying to determine where to add the second green tube?

Rebuilt and installed the arb awning

Was in need of new poles after a trip to OBX during hurricane nicole. Then after being launched off the 80 into oncoming traffic the bag was a lil worse for wear. So rebuilt the awning and tossed it on the alucab.
