Added two Pelican BX90R Cargo boxes & mounts to the FrontRunner rack. Mounts are quite sturdy and easy to use.

Could likely fit two more if I moved the mounting from center of rack to two in front / two in rear.

No noticeable additional wind noise at 85+ highway speeds and no rattling at all. The sealing of the box is typical Pelican - expect it to be quite good. But - haven’t driven in a big T-storm at highway speeds yet to confirm

Loaded them up and am off with 4/5th the family from CO to see the remaining 1/5 who’s in MT for the summer. Surprisingly large capacity. Helps alleviate the overpack tendencies of wife & daughter leading to much lower stress trip prep… “Sure honey, we can take that, toss it in…”. That’s worth the price alone.

Also in a portion of one of the boxes is a full double 27” monitor set up w stand, full sized keyboard, dock, power supplies, etc so I can do the worky-work thing while in MT. Eventual plan is to couple w a Starlink for a “go anywhere /anytime office.

Prior “What have you done” projects were Slee Sliders, FrontRunner rack (complete with one dropped internal fastener that everyone warned about that had to be fished from the A pillar), DBA slotted rotors & pads, and Lexus credit card key addition, as well as the normal Oil / Filter(s).

(PS - first post after LOOOONG lurking. So appreciate all I’ve learned here - thank you all)

If you track your fuel economy with any precision I’d be curious what the before/after numbers are..

Nice set up. Amazing no real wind noise at 85mph. Your color Heritage that was a 2021 just went for $110K on BaT last week. Only 7k miles on and incredible how these cars hold their value.

Leatherique treatment on all of the leather surfaces. Soaked in Rejuvenator Oil for 48 hours in 85 degree day temperatures, total of 3-4 coats in some areas. Then wiped it all down with Pristine Clean, and final wipe down with damp microfiber to buff surfaces. Really impressed at how it soaked up the oil and apparently filling in 95% of all the wrinkles in the seats. Glad I took the extra time, leather feels super soft and supple, and with a nice clean matte finish. Highly recommend!

Looks almost factory fresh, how often do you do this treatment?

Mine has the equipt seat covers so I treat them once a year… maybe. I’m always worried about pulling the covered to discover a nightmare.

This is actually the first time I do it. I have the Equipt Escape Gear covers and intentionally did the treatment before installing the covers. Will get that done over the next week.

Curious, how does the leather hold up between treatments under the canvas covers?

Man I've been eyeing those cargo cases for a while. Why must you tempt me!

I pulled them off a year ago this month and they looked great. Mine is a 2021 and at that time had just over 20k miles so they should still look good.

The covers have soared the seats from my 7 and 8 year olds so who knows exactly how much work they’ve had to do. Seats still look great tho.

First time in countless wheeling trips that I had the p0441 pop up. Glad I had a reset tool with me!

Dropped my truck off at Elite Finish here in SD for a complete paint correction, ceramic coat, matching tint, a glass chip repair, and interior detail. Yes I plan on thrashing it (already have haha) but the paint needed a little love and ceramic coat when properly applied will help with keeping it clean.

If you track your fuel economy with any precision I’d be curious what the before/after numbers are..
Just did ~600 miles over two days from Denver to Big Sky. Tracked gas & mileage carefully.

Interestingly - 14.4 mpg. Better than expected - and includes having two bikes on the back. Was doing 75mph much of the way, AC on, not too windy.

Without boxes - I typically expect 13.5 - 14.0, but thats typically 80+ highway speed.

Seems windy days on open highways has a bigger impact than the boxes by far.

Happy to see almost no impact - but then again, not driving a Prius so wouldn’t matter much any way!

True, and thanks for the data.

Will be towing a trailer to LCDC this year. Decided to upgrade to DBA brakes.

I forget what tire size you're running. Any chance you're running large 34/35s, and the tires catching the UCA here? I have mine clearanced at that spot as my tires would catch with lots of compression and steering.

Almost lost mine today. Helped stabilize one driver until paramedics arrived. Appears that everyone will live. Crazy. Lexus crossed the median for no apparent reason. There is a deer on the left side by me, but it never moved toward the street and was far from the swerving Lexus.

When you think about it, the trust we place in drivers on 2-lane roads is staggering. Even before you consider we live in a world with social media and streaming services competing for our constant attention.

I’m glad someone was in a position to help quickly..

It’s astonishing how bad people are consumed with their phones now.
Not saying this is the cause here, but I see it every single day.

I'm 90% sure it was a phone or drowsiness. I asked the Lexus driver what happened, and he said he didn't know. The story evidently changed to a deer later. There was a deer, but it was way back by me. The way he veered did not look like he was trying to avoid something, and there is not any deer seen when zooming the video.

My wife and I discussed that. The contract with other people not to cross a yellow line. I don't trust most people to bag my groceries tbh.

I sprinted down to the Toyota driver in the ravine, with a realization popping in my head as I was getting to her that I had no clue what I was going to do if she was badly injured, and should have let my wife take over as she is CPR certified instead of leaving her and the kids in the Cruiser. I was able to comfort the driver get her to remain calm and hold still and got her some water. Thankfully a paramedic was there in about five minutes as it occurred ver close to Clark Fork, ID. They had to use the jaws of life to extract her. I heard she declined a lifeflight as she felt ok. Very lucky under the circumstances.

Someone there to talk to her was likely exactly what she needed. Being alone stuck in a vehicle in a ravine is worst-nightmare kind of stuff for some people.

And yes modern vehicles are incredible. Though that accident was 12” from being an entirely different thing.

I have done a fair amount of CPR in my day job and can’t stress this enough.. anyone that is able-bodied should take a class. You’ll most likely never use those skills, but if the opportunity arises, someone there to start the process quickly and effectively is an absolutely critical metric on survival rate. This is really a tangent, as a car accident patient needing extrication isn’t the format for bystander CPR, but a well-taught class (some of the firefighters I work with teach and make the classes quite fun) probably won’t be a waste of time, given the potential upside.

What dash cam is this? I am shopping currently for one but can’t figure which is best. Blackvue, thinkware and nextbase are the ones I’m looking at.

I'm on 33" LTX/MS2 and icon rebounds +25. I was hoping to get my SPCs installed before the trip but no time.

Interesting. I wouldn't expect that tire combination and offset to catch the UCA. Might just be a figment of the photo?
