Where did you notice the leak?

mechanic said there wasn't a clearly identifiable spot but noticed coolant around the water pump when it was in for oil change about 108K miles. i then went on a scheduled long road trip (6K miles) and it didn't get any worse and there was no significan loss of coolant in the reservoir. mechanic said it hadnt gotten worse, but was still some coolant leaking.

Finally got my Rock Warriors on. Dressed with 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. I also put on 1.25" spacers for a total of 3" wider track.

I’m thinking I might look a little more into this as I have some mild complaints with in town driving. Did you go to Toyota and tell them exactly which TSB it was? If you don’t mind sharing, what did they charge you for this?

I did the reprogram myself. I have a live Techstream Lite subscription and Snap-on Mongoose cable, so it was a trivial 10-minute process. Depending on how you look at it, it was free or really expensive!

I tried a few years ago to have the dealership flash the software, but they said it wasn’t applicable to my vehicle. They were wrong, so I assume they didn’t hook TS to see if it was applicable or they didn’t want to do the 10 minutes of warranty work…

Hmm… I have a buddy with fancy snap-on tools so I might have to look into a tech stream subscription and see if I can do it my self as well. I may try the local dealer but they are not my favorite so I’m sure I’ll likely get the same response

Put my Turbo8 skids on finally. Also did SDHQ brake hoses. What a pain in the knuckles the rear center hoses were.

Took her up to Wheeler Pass today and acquired a crap ton of pinstripes and my first bumper rash. The main road was washed out and closed so had to improvise and take some side by side trails to get around the closure thus the pinstripes. I was way too fat for that road.

Quite a few rock gardens toward the top and that was my first experience traversing that many large rocks. Probably will get myself sliders for Xmas. I'm looking at the SDHQ ones that appear to be fairly new. Curious if anyone has those. Although it's hard to pass up the white knuckle sale going on now. Buy they aren't my favorite looking.

You might reach out to High Country Tuning. They sound like they have some tuning solutions for transmissions.

it was a big month for maintenance. my '21 is now at 116,000 mi.
1. new brake pads and rotors
2. new OEM shocks
3. new water pump (slight leak had started)
4. new serpentine belt and tensioner
5. swapped summer Falkens to new winter Nokian Hakka SUV R5

i should be set for a while

Which way did you go up from, Pahrump side or Cold Creek side?

Up from cold creek. I wanted to go back down the other side to Pahrump but didn't have enough time to make it home in time to pick the kid up at school had I gone down that way and taken the highway around back home.

Wheeler Pass road is washed out at Willow Creek. Well technically I think Willow Creek took over the road and they have some cables strung up closing it. You can easily detour around it on some of the other offshoot trails though and meet back up with Wheeler Pass road.

I'm debating new OEM shocks. Why did you change yours?

i thought it was getting a little 'soft and floaty' and wasnt feeling as planted as it had. they had 110K on them when they were changed and they have a lot of miles on the type of forest/mining/logging roads found in UT, NV and OR. one did show some leaking (only noticed during the replacement). i went with OEM because i liked the stock ride, they're pretty reasonably priced, and my wife didn't want it lifted

the ride is improved, for sure, but it doesn't feel 'same as new'. not very quantitative, i know. i wish i had changed springs, too.

55 gallon trash can went airborne and nailed the side mirror yesterday as I was starting a 6 hr drive. The mirror assembly is tougher than I thought it would be. I thought it would be obliterated.

No kidding. 1200 bucks is a ton of money for a kooky backy thing. I’m hoping I can piece it back together since it looks like most of the parts are still good. A couple of broken clips and glass and I can probably make it work.

Got the FJ40 fender badges in, which I'm going to use on the D pillar like the Heritage Edition has.

They have studs on the back of them, which I need to remove

Dremel made quick work of cutting the studs off, then I used a cheap Hammer Store belt sander to sand them flat. Who makes a decent belt sander? This Hammer Store one isn't long for this world...

Once I get the truck back from the body shop I'll figure out exactly where I'm going to mount these, then bend them slightly to match the truck. Some 3M Body tape will hold them in place
