Made a quick and cheap and very unrefined sleeping platform on short notice for a quick weekend trip to Zion this coming weekend after my buddy said a spot opened up on his permit to descent the Subway from the top down. All-in to include the trifold foam mattress on the way from Amazon and the campsite reservation was less than one night of hotel outside the park where they are staying.

The two pieces of plywood lock in position with dowel rods when in the sleeping position as well as the seats up travel position.

Will see how it does for a weekend before I decide to invest time and effort painting or carpeting it or if I want to build something fancier.

Nice. What are those pegs for?

Bought a used Thule Motion XT XL from Facebook Marketplace for a road trip this weekend. I hate Facebook and haven’t used it in years but I’m glad I checked and was able to score this after searching for so long.

I dropped FB for a while but went back for trip planning. There is a lot of good knowledge on the smaller local 4x4 groups and they are happy to help with real up to date route conditions. Otherwise, it’s a turgid den of turpitude.

It's an extremely useful tool for people with niche hobbies. I am able to get tons of local info., help with troubleshooting issues on my dirt bike, Cruiser info., trail condition updates, etc. all in one place. Just like anything else, it's all in how you use it.

To keep the top piece of plywood from sliding around while driving. Lay the seats down, pull thr pegs out and the plywood slides over the top of the 2nd row seats and and then locks into place on pegs in the frame to hold it in place while sleeping.

Amazon bought tri fold memory foam mattress fits perfect underneath.

Stuffed some new rubber into my wheel wells. Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT 275/70/18…. Ino surprise the mud wised on/research was perfect, they passed the very scientific “finger clearance test” that the local shop did after mounting and installing.

Super happy with the stance, going’s to load range E from the non-LT Wildpeak i had likely will impact stiffness and MPV but worth it for me.

Maybe gained 1.5-1.75 inches due to slightly larger size and because my old ones were at end of life depth.

Not gonna lie, I was regretting my Indy shop choice once my baby was held up on all fours by Pittsburg HF jacks withought any fail safes…. But saved some coin that can be spent on the next fun cruiser project!

ODO 226,180 miles

What wheels are these? 18 inch Lexus?

Bought a DV8 fairlead mounted, flip up license plate mount

Weekend trip to the beach for my cousin’s wedding. The Thule roof box was better than I expected, no noise or vibration at highway speeds. I was worried about the flimsy factory crossbars but I didn’t encounter any issues. As you can see, our family loves Land Cruisers!

Replaced the windshield.

Had a 2mm chip for ages. This cold snap turned that into a 4 foot crack. Insurance covered any aftermarket glass, but OE was available so I paid the difference. Due to a little work order mix up I was able to see both glasses. There were subtle but important differences. Namely the pigtail was more robust and better secured on the OE, and the rain sensor pad and clips were much more robust. Extra perk, AM is from China import, OE was from Asahi in Tokyo.

Thanks for the report. I’m due for a replacement myself. I had an appointment scheduled a few weeks ago but the aftermarket glass I ordered came in scratched so I told them I didn’t want it. I just haven’t rescheduled since. Maybe I just need to pay the extra bit for OEM……

Not sure why I didn't do this a long time ago, but removed the 3rd row seat belts. It was easier than I expexted.
