Hay! At least it's mounted to drain down. I make more of a mess with my FJ62 whose filter is wrong side up. The 200 is way less messy.

I have an FJ62 also and I just put cardboard down and let that baby rain.

Did an oil change today. I think this is my 4th time doing it on my 200, which is also the first vehicle I've owned from this century.

For the love of god, what is the deal with the new style filter? I hate using the stupid little plastic thing to drain the filter. I hate the socket to unscrew the filter housing. Oil gets everywhere no matter what. Why couldn't they use a regular filter -- housing and element all in one?

It is an extremely infuriating design.

I just ordered some Stahlbus oil drain valves with hoses for all my Toyota's. Should help changing the oil.

Speaking about the oil filter housing, when I was at the dealership last week, I asked the Parts Counter guy if they stocked the metal ones, and I got an earful of how my vehicle is specifically designed for the plastic version, and the metal ones leak, and are aftermarket, etc. I asked him why then does Toyota have them listed in their parts catalog, and why they have a Toyota part number assigned, and why they come in a box and plastic bag that's marked Toyota and Lexus? He just repeated to me that they're aftermarket, not made by Toyota, blah, blah, blah. Kind of immature response in my opinion.

Here's what I ordered...

sounds like you need to find a new parts guy. I'd be leery of any "advice" this guy offered. I have used both TRD and (yes, aftermarket - gasp, clutching pearls) Amsoil filter without issue.

Well, there are some simple things you can do to drain the oil filter housing. I use the plastic snap in tool attached to a piece of surgical tubing. Drains the canister cleanly...

Wait, you don't have a Bendpak 4 post lift in your garage? WTF man, time to trade in your man card, lol! You're in Texas, I thought everyone there lived on a ranch with barns and every tool under the sun? haha Guess I also shouldn't mention that I've got a Handy motorcycle lift inset into the garage floor in the other bay then. Oh, oopppss...

My trick will work even if you're laying on your back under your truck....

Im truly an idiot for even existing here in Texas, you aint lying about that!
One day i hope to be able to look down both my nose, the mountainside, and the map at the no good, no lift. no land having poor and desperate souls in Texas just like you.

Man card? Did you just assume my gender?
Im soy boy level 9, akshully.
And after this i turn into man child level 1.
Clearly, i dont need your validation.

😂

On a more serious note, that hose trick is aight... Isnt that in the instructions? Lol
I just hole in 1 that s*** right into the pan.
When youre on the ground, dont need no hose. Thats the Texas way!

Snort, hahaha!! Well, I'm in the no land suburbia of Denver, so right there with ya. I do, however, have cold beer here. Some with your name on em in fact, if you find yourself in my neck of the woods sometime....

This past week: Kings with SPC UCA and OME rear spring (722), ironman bumper and winch. I’m struggling with the amount of lift at just a bit over 3” all the way around, I’m measuring the cv angle at 15 degrees. It looks a bit strange on the stock size KO2s but drives and rides great, shop seems to have really dialed in the alignment. I’m thinking about taking it back next week and backing off an inch on the preload to ease up on the front axel angle.

I run that IM bumper and winch... highly recommend. Bounced off mountain going up Top of the World, pushed over small trees on deer lease, fits well on truck and its never let me down. The cost for what you get is great and looks good as well.

Upgraded my first aid kit to a MYFAK Pro (MyMedic Black Friday deal, still 30% off). Mounted to my Kaon shelf. Easy access from rear driver side door. The kit is attached with Velcro to the molle panel. Doesn’t interfere with rear passenger though in my case the back seat is usually occupied by my dog.

Haven’t had much time to really look at honestly, but initial impressions are great, especially for the price point. This one was a scratch and dent the installer had on hand, it has a 6” scare on top of the center bar from shipping. A little paint and it was too good to pass up. They got my Baja fogs to mount up, just need license plate bracket and recovery points
