I have stock chromed rims on my LX. Is it hard to keep the Plasti-dip on them?

I have had mine plastidipped for over a year now. The only issue I have is with the carwash, the high pressure wheel cleaners in the carwash tunnel will lift up the edges of the plasti-dip. So I wash it by hand now. Other than that it holds up fine.

This is not a dealer horror story but a long one.

Had the dealer do an oil change. When I left my house to pick my truck up at the dealer from the service I noticed a glob of grease on the ground where I park my truck.

Talk to the advisor and sure enough he mentions my driver side axle boot is torn. That explained the grease and the clicking. The dealer also noticed I had a small previous leak of radiator fluid.

I was told I had a month of warranty left and they would again diagnose it free of charge in a month and I could replace the pump now or later or not at all.

My water pump was replaced at 72k miles solely for preventative maintenance and because I was going to sell. The same dealer that made the observations installed the Toyota water pump; however I bought the pump from a different mud vendor as well.

The dealer said a reboot of the CV axle would be $280 with parts. Since I noticed the clicking and the truck now at 85k miles. Labor was much cheaper to replace the axle.

I decided to order two new axles from a mud vendor. When the axles arrived I took my truck in to have the axles installed and the cooling system diagnosed.

The cooling system was pressure tested free of charge and said it was holding pressure and the leak may have been a one time issue. They SAID they would honor the Toyota water pump warranty if I wished to replace the pump.

I took the truck home and figured I would probably not replace the pump. When I got home I checked the axles expecting to see two beautiful new axles. To my dismay the left axle had lost a bit of grease. While I was underneath I checked the water pump and noticed what seemed to be much more of a significant amount of radiator fluid.

I took the truck back and told them to recheck the pump and the axle. They rebooted the axle free of charge of course and checked the cooling system again.

Apparently there is a heater hose underneath the intake. They found a leak at that heater hose and replaced the heater hose. Retested the system and the pump was now leaking.

All in all everything was warrantied and I didn't pay a dime.

Now my question? Has anyone been experienced this hose underneath the intake failing? If that is a legitimate concern for us owners?

Installed a JVC KWAV71BT double din in place of the OEM stereo. Did a parking brake override so the kids can watch movies.

I am looking forward to Bluetooth, iPod, Pandora and SiriusXM and my 13 year old ride.

Went with a detachable face to remove at trail heads. Out of sight, out of mind (hopefully).

Saved big bucks ordering from Amazon versus Crutchfield thanks to a MUD tip. The install was also made much easier thanks to MUD and TLCFAQ.com

I was not happy with the OEM stereo, but content until a year ago, when we bought a new Civic with bluetooth. Ever since then I would tend to take the civic instead of the cruiser just for the streaming... not anymore..

Replaced OEM stereo with Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997 and entered the 21st century. Stock speakers/amp.. that is a much bigger, down the road project.

I too am replacing my factory head unit with an X597 and a WX18 this weekend. Also need to move my subwoofer amp somewhere. I'm thinking in the area above and behind the PS rear wheel? Here's what I did today:

Ran my coax from the back up to the DS foot area, waiting on CB install.

Pulled the third row while I was at it

As you can see, the amp used to be beneath the third row, so now it needs a new home. I don't want to buy new wire and I think I can get away with simply moving it to the PS rear panel area.

EDIT: Just realized I should remove the seat belts from back there... Wow I can be dense...

YukonLX, could you please give me an update on your tyres?
I need new tyres and are tossing up between Mickey Ts ATZ 4-rib or Duratrac.
I hav read that the Wranglers have a weaker sidewall and are prone to damage.

nice , nice , nice
what year is that truck ? 98-99 ?
since engine is out why not put a Durmax in that bad boy ;)

Or Cummins or Powerstroke. I'd love to see somone do it as long as it isnt me. I wouldn't want to write that check or deal with the inevitable bugs that would come up.

I think I saw somewhere that Mark's Adapters installed a Duramax with an Allison into a 100 series. I couldn't find it after quickly searching for it, but I found that they sell a nice kit to install a LS1 or LS2 V8.
