Figured out what those bolt holes are for...

I can't tell from your pic did you cut a hole in the plasticware or just drill holes and bolt straight through?

Got tired of looking at the faded black plastic. Read some promising reviews online. Picked up some 3m bondo restore black from Wally World. Taped up the bumper and applied. Looks decent. Rattle can would have been just as good.

Wow that looks great, I might pick some up, thanks for posting

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on that faded black plastic next time. I was amazed at how easily it made mine look like new again. Don't ask me how it works it just does...

I replaced the front and back speakers with Alpines, btw, make sure you go with 6 inch speakers in both the front and the back, the alpine site will recommend speakers that won't fit.

I also upgraded the console lights with LED's. Haven't driven at night yet, but they look fantastic.

Great mods! Sounds like you had a busy weekend. What did you do with your factory subwoofer? Did you replace it also? If so, what size did you go with and did you add an amplifier? I changed out all 6 speakers with Focals but didn't change the subwoofer yet because I'm not sure which to go with and/or if I should add an amp.

How many and which sizes did you use for the dash? I was driving home last night thinking I need to do the same thing. Did you do the ones in the center console too? I've done all of the map lights, door lights, etc but yet to do the dash lights.

Drilled holes and torqued to 128 ft.lb. the nuts are already in the frame.

Glad you found your pintle! Where did you pick it up?
I haven't even washed mine since the hills, don't want to rinse away all the fun mud just yet!

I have been playing around on the bench with your ELS Helios LED pods and comparing them to some other lights and LED's I have laying around... I'm impressed by the color, intensity, and reflector pattern so far. Just haven't figured out where they are going yet.

Is there a write up on this somewhere? Seems like an easy mod that would look great! I want to do it now...

Here is 'one' of the links. In the 2nd link, Ckkone listed what specific bulbs you need. The second thread is a must read.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/748876-ac-illumination-2.html

My instrument panel mod only required six bulbs..(Speedometer, Tach, Fuel, Water, Oil, Battery) Each of those bulbs was a V-Leds #74 6k white. It's basically a 3 LED bulb. It's tiny.. You can do that separately from the console. Ordered those bulbs from V-leds.http://www.vleds.com/ You might need to confirm this, but it's basically this bulb:

http://www.vleds.com/bulb/74-led/wh...wedge-base-dash-light-bulbs-37-74-1-pair.html

I also replaced the lights on the console, and I purchased all of those lights from superbrightleds.com. Pay particular attention to the second link as it regards the console. The second link lists the specific bulbs, and and as I noted the superbrightleds website. The website is a pain in the ass, but their product is good, I'd stick with it.

It is a great mod. The bulbs are cheap and the result is dramatic.

My LC is a 2000, and I found the challenge of replacing the subwoofer to be difficult due to the enclosure + relatively small size/power of the sub. So for the time being, I'm holding off, largely because I don't want an ugly enclosure junking up my machine! The four Alpine speakers are a significant improvement regardless.

That being said, here is the subwoofer upgrade plan:
Replace the subs with two(2) JL Audio subs, 6w3v3-4
Replace the Amp with a Kicker 11DX250.1 AMP

Bottom line, the enclosure is going to change, I'm not happy about that, but the new subs are going to be deeper at a minimum. The plan is to design an enclosure that maybe protrudes a bit, but keeps the mesh look of the stock. It shouldn't cost a lot, but I'm touchy about the design, so gimme a month on this..

I put the links I used as guidance for the LED upgrade above. I only did the gauge cluster and the console, I'm happy with everything else. If you have questions or it doesn't make sense, please ask, we should probably do a better outline of the bulbs required. The tricky part is just getting the right bulbs, the actual install is a just a matter of getting the instrument panel and console off.

But as a heuristic, you can do the instrument gauge with 6 V-Leds #74 6k white(3 LED's in this bulb) and the rest from the Superbright LED's website, with the specific bulbs listed on the 2nd link.

Why would you do that? Now that it isn't driven daily, you are more likely to have a comprehensive loss... and it is the least expensive coverage.

If I were you, I would remove the collision coverage and keep the comprehensive.

I agree - my comprehensive with $250 deductible is only like $70 every 6 months totally worth it IMO!

If you changed to Focals, get a class A/B. To my ears, the Focals sounded a little tinny and on the harsh side with a digital amp.

I'm thinking about going with the JL Audio 8' Microsub in the back - maybe put some 1 or 1 1/2 inch feet on it and point it down in the rear. A guy at the local audio shop has an LX and we've been talking about how best to get some low range in our rigs. Think this might be the way to go.

That's a bit more expensive, but I like that idea quite a bit. Good call, Smooth! I could upgrade the amp and go with that fairly easily...

How long until you think you do that? Looking at the size of it, it looks like much less of a project than my idea....

Why did you replace the sway bar links with Longer 80 series? was there a problem?

Saw the Microsub on Amazon the other day, much cheaper (~$100) than on Crutchfield. Just checked though, now it's "unavailable". I should've picked it up.

Depending on price, I'll probably be doing this in another month or two. I still need to finish sound deadening the front third of the LC and the rear doors too.
