I used the FAQ about rebuilding the MC to do just that and bleed the brakes. I may try bleeding one more time to be sure. The pedal is much firmer and no more 2 pumps to get the pedal firm. It took a few hard stops to get the brake and ABS lights to go out. I replaced the radiator original at 173K and 2 front end hits. I also flushed the cooling system and replaced all the hoses and the heater tees. One T looked brand new, one had some erosion on one end. They were not brittle and survived my brutal assault to remove them and the hoses. Quite a bit of satisfaction at the work.:)

New marker lights (still biding my time until I can do ahc conversion or get front diff lock - so jealous! :) )

I love a job so easy even a newbie caveman like me can do it in a few minutes!

I didn't even care about marker lights, but noticed how thomas edison prototypish they looked when I put the HID lights in...

the beauty is hard to see in the daylight - ha

I still have to get used to this idea of pushing/pulling things really hard and hearing snapping noises - in computer work this doesn't go so well :)

Changed out two idler pulleys as I could hear a bit of a whine when using the stethoscope approach.

Installed a new ashtray that had been missing since purchased.

Removed rear hatch handle and replaced it with a new one. Damn rust corroded it and it broke the lever. I think there is a design flaw with this area simply as the handle allows water in from regular driving in wet conditions. It gets trapped inside the hatch, where the sheet metal meets and sits there.

Replaced blank panel that was being occupied by a light switch that has now moved to my overhead switch console.

Still waiting for cup insert replacement that broke, plus a snorkel from cruiser solutions that is taking forever to ship, long travel shocks and rear sway bar extensions.

Custom Slider teaser pics, waiting on finish welding and some spacers

Did some fierce cleaning today. Ontario winters sure take their toll.
It took me all day to make her look decent again.

Hello,
I brought in my LX470 for Lexus to preform the Daytime Running Light Recall today. The cool thing is that Lexus fills up your tank when they preform a recall. My gas light literally came on when I drove in. The Service Advisor said it cost almost $100 to fill the tank. Pretty sweet I did not spend a dime and got a full tank of fuel.
Cheers,
JJ

LC got an oil change.

The LC finally got an oil change (long overdue). I knew that I had to change the oil. At first, the "maint reqd" light remained lit for 5 seconds and then went out. Recently, it remained lit while driving. Took 7 qts of Mobil 1 5w-30 full syn and a Wix 51348 to the local mechanic to do the job.

Later on I happened to check the earlier paper work on my LC and found out that the last change of oil was done in Dec 2011 ! I hope that should be ok and no damage was done. I drive just around 6-8K miles /yr using the LC

Next in line should be the 90k service (timing belt changes) and major maintenance. The odo is reading 96K now.

Ouch! Even if the previous owner did it with Mobil 1 5-30 it would only be good for about 7k mi. Your not too far off, but rather than guessing why not send a sample in to blackstone to get an analysis?

Somehow I don't think UOA is in this owners vocabulary...

I would drive it for awhile and maybe check compression before spending $$ on a TB job for a motor you may have just smoked.

Clay bar, buff, wax, shampoo of carpet, and treated the leather, followed by a trip to home depot to buy some painting supplies for the side trim. Life is so much better after tax season ends

Also started researching what else I should do to the cruiser this summer. I'm thinking I'll start with new exhaust (any suggestions? I'd like it to be somewhat subtle but still bring out the V8 sound), then refurb the sway bar and possibly put in a new head unit.

You might want to at least change the filter after 1-2000 miles. The synthetic oil will help clean everything.

So far this week I've installed air lift 1000 (nothing like lifting your truck with a bike pump), removed the trailer hitch, raised the spare tire (295/75/16 fits with ease now) but I think it can go another inch higher, started reinstalling the dual battery system and Ham radio, installed cross bars on the LabRak, installed Spressomon's recovery brackets in place of the trailer hitch, cleaned the throttle body and MAFS (both were very dirty).

Hopefully that, the 0W30 and 75w90 Mobil 1 synthetics, DT headers fill help with the recently terrible gas mileage.

I wouldn't suggest leaving those shackles on the truck while DDing. For one, you will look every goofy J&&p guy in town with fuel cans, hilift, etc. mounted on the truck in the parking garage and more importantly, the shackles will become hard to get off when are constantly exposed to the elements and typically you need to remove a shackle when you use it...just an observation.

Removed the pin stripes on the right side and plasti-dipped the front wheels.....I'll do the rest tomorrow.

have you tried lowering your spare in case you need it? I returned my 295 to the OEM location since it was very difficult to reach the crank... I'll be getting a 255/85/16 for a spare...

I may also get a 255. Right now I haven't altered the crossmember. I just removed the rear bar and flipped the front bar over.

I had trouble getting to a friends spare when they did the lift mod. 1" seems like there would still be some room to slip the spare tire rod in. We'll see. If now. I'll run it stock and move the swing out rear bumper higher on the build list. Right now the tire still seems very vulnerable, especially without the trailer hitch there to protect it.

Mind your own business :p. They're on because I had to make sure I could get the shackles on and off with the hook in place. Left them on to make an expo approved picture.
