Made my wife appreciate the LabRak by using it to donate her least favorite couches to Salvation Army. Then picked up a new couch. All in my totalled 100 with no grill or headlights got some strange looks on this side of town.

Also started looking for a new 100.

I must have missed that thread - is that a blueberry bumper? did it make it intact? would a bullbar have saved you or was it hopeless.

Might have been a funny break.com pic with you on the couch...

I had the stock bumper at the time. Replaced with blueberry then found out it was totalled.

Bullbat wouldn't have helped. I ran into the angled brace of a 4x4labs gas can carrier. It hit right on the edge of the hood and grill. 5-10mph impact.

@Klaus
Can't believe it's totaled from such a low mileage impact. But sh** happens right. At least you have the Slee for the new ride when you get it. Good luck on the search.

Cleaned up some nasty CV grease and ordered Slee's diff drop kit like I should have 6 months ago when the lift went on...

I reindexed my torsion bars, resembled my cv's with pfrans clamps, and installed a sony mu110 dsp to my navigation system

I was just thinking about this after I read your response. I would think all the time Klaus has in the truck (installing aftermarket parts), it would be worth fixing. I am sure a hood is expensive (looks to be the most damaged part) but I am sure re-installing all the modifications to the new truck would cost him more time-wise (work, family, possible injury) than repairing the current rig. I probably should not post this on the forum, however I don't plan on selling the cruiser. I was curious to see what it would take to get my truck back to "good" body condition. With how I wheeled the truck it's currently totaled. KBB states my truck in fair condition is ~8,500K. The body shop and paint shop quoted me $12,400 to repair, paint and replace the body panels. I am sure Klaus could get a new hood and source some fenders off eBay (they actually sell full front end clips for $500 on eBay, fenders, hood, bumper, grill, and supports). I'm sure it's low quality, but for $500 why the hell not?

If I was Klaus, and mechanically the truck was running fine, I would keep it and fix her up. She's got history with Klaus, just like my truck has history with me. It's a love/hate relationship at this point. I have seen Klaus post pictures for weeks with the mangled front end, surely it runs! Atleast I hope it does, that would be amazing if they pushed it around town. Fred Flinstone style?

Edit:

Fenders:

Hood:

Supports:

They probably won't fit perfectly, but a little trimming and spacing can't hurt. Bedline the damn thing and enjoy :)

(that sounds like a great idea...maybe I'll do this lol)

This was my initial inclination. Especially since I'd just done a $2000 90k service. But as I read about California titling laws, once it's declared totalled, it stays that way or can be retitled as rebuilt. Which will hurt ever trying to resell it. And as much as I'd like to think I'd keep it forever. I probably will want to or need to sell at some point. And the love hate relationship leans more toward hate the longer this process drags on and the more corroded bolts and hidden rust I find. If I'd but this much energy and care into any of my old honda's they'd be museum pieces by now.

That plus all the bolts I've broken from PA rust from it's past life made me think twice about spending money out of pocket to repair it. If I can uninstall everything but the brakes and 90k service, it might be worth the $2000 loss and countless hours that I can chalk up to "experience" and learning.

I even bought the 07 front end update parts and lights to start the repair process rolling. 3 weeks of being in the shop later and it's declared totalled. I wish I hadn't installed the blueberry bumper now.

Geico's estimate was $6200 to fix. The Toyota/Lexus bodyshop said $8000. They took the grill and head lights out, called GEico and now it's a total loss. I don't know what additional damage they could have found. No radiator or frame damage. MAybe these are worth a lot salvage which tips the scale in favor of totalling. I hope they realize how much a pre accident 100-Series with 94k on it is worth. I stuck the headlights back in and drove it to work today for the first time in a month. I can hold out on the value for awhile.

this week?
Get rid of the VW Golf TDi and get the LC back on the road (I work with my car)...
**** the gas price!
:flipoff2:

Mr Lou's hood struts installed. Facebook7 discount still works.

i posted this to the photos stickie, but thought i'd post here too.

i got rid of the Safari snorkel and got a custom 4 inch stainless one from AUS4WD http://www.aus4wd.biz/ The plate covers up the holes that the Safari needed and they re-used the Safari mount point holes on the pillar. They did a fantastic job.

The reason i replaced the Safari was because when i had the LC dyno'd ages ago they said the snorkel was a bottleneck. And it was even more noticeable when i got my performance exhaust fitted. This new snorkel addresses that issue and I can already feel the difference in performance.

I know people will either like the look of it or loathe it, but that's fine - i like it :-) But as i said above - it fixes an issue i had and that's what i wanted.

I personally like how clean and tough it looks. Looks great to me and likely those slick curves reduce intake turbulence. Nice job.

Thanks Muddy Bean. The pictures arent as crisp as i'd like...i'm hopeless taking photos using my iPhone. I'll take a few using my digital SLR camera and re-post. Also, where the LC is parked i couldn't get a nice side shot so i'll get one similar to a previous shot i have showing the Safari so i can get a before and after comparison.

Is that a pit for working underneath the truck? I should set up an outdoor work area like that - gotta visit the code police...

I kind of like it - would it have been possible to get it at the same angle as the windshield?

I thought about that, but it would have ended up being a pit for snakes and scorpions. For now it's just to catch fluids dripping from the car so it won't mess up the floor.
I am getting the car vinyl wrapped and figured it was time to get it out of the sun all day.
Honestly can't wait to get the car back and stick it in there :)
