I kind of like it - would it have been possible to get it at the same angle as the windshield?

They mentioned that was the goal, but given i wanted to use the Safari entry point on the guard and use the existing holes on the pillar it made it a little challenging.
Edit: i just checked it - it follows the line of the pillar up to where it uses the mount point, then the pillar slopes away from it.

Moooo, thats a sweet looking snorkel, a couple questions:

What did it set u back?
Any plans for the top end or are you happy with the intake?

I need to put in a snorkel when I replace my turbo, because the dust here gets through the filter & mixes with the oil and makes a paste that has worn down my blades...

it was $850. Do you mean like a wire mesh or grill at the opening? I've had a think about that - i've seen lots of LCs (almost always 80 series and older) and Nissan Patrols with this type of snorkel around here and they all have it open like mine. I will put a sock over it when parked whilst camping for a few days or if i'm out hiking just in case something like a spider wants to make it a home !! The only concern ii do have is when i park it at the train station and whether or not some vandal wants to have some "fun" with it. If that becomes an issue i'll leave it at home and catch the bus instead.
edit: i may have to put a sock over it overnight in my driveway too as we have huntsman spiders where i live !!

If you're talking about from the airbox to the throttle body then i plan on getting an Injen tuned intake and removing the factorry stuff up to the airbox as I will be keeping the factory airbox.

And now she is at the tailor for some new clothes ... I will be back next week and hopefully she will be all pretty by then :)

Installed a new Kenwood Excelon head unit with built in GPS, and 4 new door speakers in Feb. About two weeks ago, at random, the left front channel would stop working, and music would be replaced with loud static. Turned out the factory amp under the passenger seat was bad (after 12 years!) so I had it replaced with a Rockford Fosgate 300 watt unit. The sound is a lot richer, and now you really hear the difference with the new speakers, plus you can control the factory sub volume from the head unit. Nice improvement overall!

finally started taking all the fake wood trim pieces off via hair dryer. everything came of clean minus the center console... PITA. All in all it looks much better, but now the center console has remnants of the adhesive

Got the new supposedly stronger ignition intermediate shaft installed. Did this as a PM item...trying to do this in the field after its broken would be pure suck.

Marius....do you get enough extra storage to justify less visibility?

I,m use to drive without center mirror ,cant use it in my work truck also.I also have a camera that stay on ,not just for back up.when I go camping the back is full always

Nice.....love the cargo barrier by the way.

Back to the garage........fighting rusty bolts on slee diff drop install

Put clamps on the power steering hoses, plus added a small amount of downey fabric softener to the fluid. Also, installed front/rear diff breathers terminating at the power steering reservoir and fuel cap door.

Too lazy to remove the RTT before going skiing, moved the ski rack to the ladder swing out. No drilling (in the bumper at least), some longer screws, and done. Might not be the most elegant solution, but it seems like it'll work.

1) replaced antenna mast. Mr Lou's. Very easy...
2) rebuilt master key using cruiser parts.net blank. Again very easy
3) replaced front diff fluid. PIA because fill plug did not want to come loose
4) BG 44k fuel service
5) installed Pfran LED interior kit. Easy and big improvement

Also completed basic maintenance on my Titan and wife's Lexus

Overall, a very enjoyable day in the garage.
