Repainted my side molding center strips where the clear coat was peeling and looking like hell. The local stealership body shop wanted over $500 to sand and paint just the center strips to match the body color.

I found a $7.95 can of metallic rust oleum spray paint at Lows that was close enough. Sanded the the center strips by hand after carefully masking with tape and covering the truck with drop cloths. Wiped down with denatured alcohol and applied 6 coats of paint. Looks great and if it starts to fade or peel after a couple of years then I'll go thru the process again for less than a weekend afternoon and $20 in paint and supplies.

My big bucks go to the important things like tires, shocks and, of course, gasoline. :p

Thanks to tabraha's thread on cabin air filter replacement I was able to locate the air filters, when I pulled them out pieces of sponge and twigs & leaves & dust from 300k km came with it.

Where the thin sponge that mostly disintegrated comes from... I can only assume it was part of the filter like on my new 12v air compressor

So heavy blowing with a good workshop compressor as well as 2 buckets of soapy water later (as the first was so dirty I had to chuck it and start over on the second filter), I vacuumed out the remaining sticks & leaves & dust that I could get to, I was ready to replace the old filters.

I decided to take some notes outa tabraha's thread & cut 2 pieces of mining air filter cloth to fit the old cleaned & washed air filters & put them back in....

WOW, I have a brand new smelling car that doesn't have that fine dust smell every time I turn on the AC!

Looks like a small gap there that may need looking into, but that's for next time...

Wow filters must be expensive in Kenya or something. I throw mine away and put in new ones. :)

^^ Cats out of the bag now! Nice fox shocks!

Bill Burke Class

I was fortunate enough to attend the NW Search and Rescue Conference in Clackamas County, OR where I got to spend three days improving my skills with Bill Burke of 4-Wheeling America. Great opportunity to learn from the best!

well I put a huge blood spot on the tailgate carpet about the size of a football...soaked all the way through to bottom so thinking if steam carpet cleaner does not get it out then will replace with some plastic colored replacement....a wagongear setup or something else as it is going to happen again and again since I use it for deer hunting. I have the rear cargo liner from Weathertech but does not keep their heads and bodies from leaking onto tailgate when loading alone. Especially when they take an hour to load by yourself...I think I need to make a skid to lay on tailgate to help drag them up instead of manhandling 150-180lbs of dead weight with antlers 2 or 3 times a year alone. :hillbilly:

already rinsed cargo liner and letting it dry so will spare you the blood pools in that...

Very cool! I'm considering joining the Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue's 4x4 unit next month. Some great volunteer people in the ESAR community!

How about a trailer?

I farted in the driver's seat.

Nice buck. I know about wrestling that weight. A few weeks ago, I had another hunter in camp ask me why I cut the 4x4 bull elk I got in half before we (my buddy and I) loaded it in his truck. I guess he'd never loaded an elk in the back of a truck with one other guy before

Required tech ... my new 200 did not suck on the drive out to Colorado and it gained some respect on the 25 miles of county road that was freshly graded before it rained an inch ....
