I didn't have to do much on the wiring end, since my truck already had all the factory audio stuff removed when I bought it. It is running an aftermarket amp and separate wires run to the doors for the speakers!

SO, I ordered a new driver's front seatbelt from toyotapartsdeal.com although I think the name of the website should be toyotapartsdetail.com because if you don't pay attention to the DETAILS, your gonna mess up like I did. I thought I ordered an Ivory colored belt like the one I've attached in the pic, but turns out in the item description there is a note that says "replaced by" and then a different part number, which is the part number for a Bluish Gray seatbelt. Oh, and how I was just tickled that they won't let me return it either, due to it being a seatbelt with hazardous material and a charge in it and what not. The only thing Blue in my whole truck is me, feeling Blue about not being able to return my Blue seatbelt.

On a brighter note. I'm happy having a superb functioning seatbelt once again, and the blinking Red man with the beachball on his lap has finally gone away. I knew by instinct it was the driver's seatbelt that needed replacing. Since I bought the truck, I've not had anyone else ride, so none of the other belts in the truck were touched. The Red man was not an issue when I purchased the truck. Also, the retractability of the belt was pretty much gone. I was happy to replace that belt just to remedy that alone.

Now here I ask you. What do you think of the Blue, would it make you crazy, or you gonna live with it if it was your truck? Also, anyone know how much to refurbish my old Ivory one? I mean total refurbishment, so it's like new again almost.

If costs aren’t too high, replace the other side with blue as well and people will think it’s some special model like Porsche does for an extra $35k

I'd run it but if you choose to refurbish your old one, I might be interested in buying this one from you!

oh it was high. won't be doing that. I will say though, I should try to own a Porsche some day.

The driver’s seatbelt in my 2002 LX was slow to retract and the belt had stiff spots… I think that sweat, liquids and dirt over the years had hardened within the seatbelt material.

I pulled the belt out as far as it would go and clamped it to prevent it from retracting…

I used a 5 gallon bucket with hot water and laundry soap to soak the seatbelt for 5 minutes… then scrubbed it with a dish brush in the soapy water.

Toweled it off… then a bucket of warm clean water to rinse out the soapiness… 2 courses of clean rinse. Toweled it dry.

The seatbelt is like new clean… no stiff spots… very soft and supple.

And it now retracts without hesitation.

Might work for yours as well.
 
I pitched the old LC seatbelt. 100 for refurb and shipping vs replace for 250.

Refurb does not include belt cleaning. My new belt is an awesome experience. Sorry had a video had to remove it.

I can't believe that it is more than a year since I first posted about the new paint job, roof rack, updates to the center console/gear shift area, adding Clearview towing mirrors, Rad Rubber Design front splash guards and changing the battery terminals to SDHQ. Since then, we have had our 100 Series Cruiser totally refreshed underneath and under the hood.

After my last posts I received a message from Manny at Tampa Cruisers in St. Petersburg, Florida, saying that he would be happy to help on the work that I planned. After 23 years of mostly on-road use I thought there would be very little work required however, Manny showed me a very different story! He was very thorough and produced dozens of pictures showing the work that needed to be done. Admittedly my ask was that he did whatever was needed for the Cruiser to last another 23 years!

Throughout the project Manny went above and beyond. He produced and estimate quickly and then stuck to it. Scheduling the Cruiser being at his shop was agreed to minimize loss of use of the vehicle. He kept me regularly updated on the project and any variations on items found, he was always very responsive to texts and e-mails. He spoke to my wife to ensure that all her issues and concerns were addressed. As a result, we successfully completed a 5,000 mile trip towing a 4,000lbs travel trailer for the first time this summer with the utmost confidence that the Cruiser could handle it without issue.

On the basis that "if there are no pictures it didn't happen" but, more to demonstrate how thorough Manny was in his evaluation and assessment of the work required, below are all the before and some of the after images.

The project took just over 2 months including ordering and obtaining a considerable number of replacement parts for the following work : -

Brakes - Replace Front & Back Rotors, Pads, Press & Grease Bearings, Replace Seals & Brake Flush.
02 Sensors - Remove // Clean // Re-Install // Reset
Coil Packs (x8) - Replace Coils & Boots
Control Arms - Replace Upper & Lower Control Arms
Coolant Housing (Cracked) Remove // Clean Area // Replace
Crankshaft Position Sensor - Replace & Clean Connector
Crankshaft Pulley - Replace
CV Axle & Seal - Right & Left Replace
Door Locks - Replace Lock Motor (x4)
Engine Mounts - Replace (x5)
Front Diff. - Drop & Replace Worn Gears, Replace Seals, Mounts, Arms & Bushings, Re-Install
Fuel Filter, Hoses & Canister Hoses - Replace
Fuel Pump - Remove & Replace Pump & Gaskets

In summary I would recommend Tampa Cruisers to anyone requiring help with their Cruiser. I am very satisfied with their knowledge, the results of their work and with all my interactions with Manny and his team.

I have it on my 06 and it retains all of the OEM features aside from the CD player which activates it. You can switch out of the carplay screen and the regular climate/mpg screen. Backup camera also works with it and switches on automatically when I put the car in reverse. Bit of a pain to install but definitely doable for someone with little to no mechanical experience.
