So far, I’m loving it! We’ve used it in places I never had thought about before. Like the ball field watching our nephews play and even at a kids birthday party. They ran out of room under their awnings… the included LED strip is great as well. Perfect amount of light for a camp setup. Also, the biggest plus of all, it made it through some of the tightest trails scraping and hanging on trees in Ocala NF without a lick. Super tough!
I can say that this DIY Prinsu style roof rack project is 99% complete. I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver the trim to put it on the bottom of the wind deflector. This project was truly a labor of love and sheer determination to see this through. Somethings I wished I had to make the job a lot smoother, like a drill press. Lining up the holes for the extruded aluminum cross bars was a challenge without a drill press. I had to sit there with a round file and kind of hone out the hole so it'll line up. Then I was sweating it drilling the holes in the wind deflector so that the T-nuts would line up properly. But i managed to do that but ran out of black oxide rounded 1/4"-20 bolts, so I ran to Home Depot to buy some nasty plated ones which I'll replace as soon as the black oxide ones come in.
If I were to do this again, and that's a BIG IF things I learned along the way things would be a lot better. But such is life.
Keep or nah? Had an extra decal and put it to use on the awning. Wanted it closer to the edge but there’s just no way to get it to stay there without coming undone from repeated openings.
Depo headlights outfitted with moroimoto projectors on my 2003. This is pure class. No more using fog lights to see at night. Really happy with the way they work. Looks cool too.
Yeah I picked up this Eastwood base welder for like $175 and just been dicking around with it for years. Messed up a lot of metal but finally getting better at it.
Nothing against taking a class if you enjoy classroom learning but you could save the money and put it towards a welder, read the manual and watch some youtube(there is a ton of info on there.) A lot of steel yards have scrap pieces for cheap that you can use to learn on. For anyone handy welding isn't some out of reach skill, you really just need to pick up a few basics than the rest is experience. It may not be pretty at first but if you're penetrating than who cares...
Throw some gas on that thing and you'll thank yourself later.

Exactly my feeling, my buddy taught me to MIG weld in 10min. Welding well and consistently takes years or practice, but sticking one piece of metal to the other is stupid simple with a MIG welder. Different metal types (cast, aluminum) and environments etc may be worth a class

Thanks for the tip. Something's you just have to learn by doing Yeah YouTubers algorithm definitely helps as soon as I watch one more appears in my feed.
Freshened up my sliders. Didn’t take a before shot, but trust me, they were more bare metal and patina than black. I used Rustoleum bed liner, and I’m very pleased with the results. They look powder coated. I picked up a Dissent bumper that needed some love after being damaged in shipping, and I plan on using this paint, as the powder coat has a lot of damage.

My son loves that Rustoleum bed liner. His bumpers, sliders, and rockers are coated in it. When I finally get around to properly finishing my 4x4Labs front bumper I’m going to consider it, too. I’ll look forward to your Dissent pictures.
Lol yeah I wheel it, but not as crazy as I wheel 15 years ago in my other rigs. I just take it slow now and maximize it’s potential. No secret, but I use trusted products and yes it has been detailed about 3 weeks ago, by me. Lol.
Adam’s undercarriage spray is what I use after washing down the dirt and oil vapor mostly from our roads. Once the oil is degreased on the surface, it then creates better adhesion to the product, makes it last longer.
