My DIY roof rack project is now in full swing. Used 1/4” MDF bender board to get the shape i wanted and transferred the shape over to 1/4” 6061 aluminum plate. I don’t have a band saw so i busted out the jigsaw with some metal blades and some Mobile one synthetic to help with the cutting. Now sand the edges to match and then mark out the holes for the crossbars. View attachment 2921936
Using 8020 for the crossbars? We did something very similar for my son’s 4runner. Fun project.

This popped up this week. Wasn’t there last week. 206k.

Hard mounted my “ARB” air compressor. I hated chugging this thing along in the back, taking up space. And I’m not too fond of it, so if it breaks due to the elements or heat then whatever.

Have a few extra days off since I tested + for covid. Been working on tuning suspension, correcting pinion angle, and other bits. It's been mid 80's here and so glad I went with a 8' garage door. Don't have to work in the heat. Also waiting on UPS to deliver some 100 series Eibach shocks. View attachment 2921927View attachment 2921928
for a sec i thought that was the baldest tire i'd ever seen lol

Took the 100 to the shop for an oil leak which i suspect is the oil filter or oil filter housing. i saw the oil leak and was investigating and i could turn the oil filter maybe 1/4" tighter by hand.

Essentially the shop said we have to start with valve cover gasket since its weeping. I already replaced the passenger side, but the shop wouldnt just replace drivers side even though the passenger side isn't leaking and all the oil leak evidence is on the drivers side. I declined the $600 service for both valve covers and just ordered the drivers side with bolts for $30 from the local toyota dealer.

I also went ahead and ordered all the seals for the oil filter housing / oil cooler while i was at it.

Keep us posted on that. I have yet to see the oil filter housing leak on these trucks. Without looking at the truck itself, it's hard to tell what it is but if I was a betting man, I'd bet valve cover gaskets leaking. Also, do replaced the spark plug tube rings while you are at it.

Will do, my only suspicion on the oil filter housing is before I bought the truck the steering rack was replaced and I’m 99.99% sure they removed the housing from the block since it had worm gear hose clamps on it on both sides of the filter.

I’m also trying to decide what direction I go with two leaking cv boots, one rebooted by Toyota 1.5 years ago, the other rebooted 100k miles ago. It’s like pulling teeth to get the dealer to tell me the warranty on service is, if it’s 2 year 24k miles I’ll take it back to fix the one they touched.

I removed all of that ugly faux plastic wood trim from around the console, HVAC control radio area, and the doors.
