Finally had the time to tackle a few tiny items off the list. Decided not to murder the front grille, but left the greys in there for some oem-esque contrast.

Did the side and rear badges of the RX as well.

That's exactly what I did, masked off the gray area and painted the chrome black

Yeah, there were a couple of knicks on the chrome I had to do some body work too and only paint can cover that.

Finished installing a 5 channel JL Audio amp in my '98 LC. Ended up learning a lot about some of the do's/do-not's and "whys" of audio work along the way. Wish I had known it all back last summer when I first replaced the factory speakers and radio! Massive improvement in quality - no more speaker clipping and finally feels like a time and $ investment that paid off.

Previously had done a factory amp bypass (the picture with just wires below) by unpinning the factory wires and putting them into a new connector, adding speaker and power wires from my Pioneer head unit on the other end of the connection.

Dad helped me with making a mount to the floor for the new amp to use the same mounting holes from the old amp. Routed the 4 GA power cable through the rubber boot in the firewall on the passenger's side, then along the door and underneath the passenger seat. I then added the RCA cables and routed them under the center console then cut down the speaker wires from the radio that I added doing the original bypass.

Added the ground for the amp and plugged in all the wires. Before I did the speaker wires from the amp to the connector, I did set the gains - I used several test tones and a multimeter with an oscilloscope mode.

After procrastinating for 2 months I finally got the clutch done in my Ferd Ranger daily, so the Cruiser has been demoted to weekend duty again.

Got the 35s back on, giving everything a tidy up inside and out, a lot has fallen off or gotten scratched in the last few months

Yesterday was my appointment day at the glass shop I was recommended to replace my cracked windshield. They went to bat with my insurance company and got approval for OEM glass and trim. They brought me in the back, we talked everything over before they started work and have done many of these and are familiar with all the usual issues.

They said this level of rust is typical of what they see on a 100 and in all the usual suspect areas. And, compared to some of the carnage I've seen on here, not bad at all. It was all ground back to bare metal, prepped, treated, and primed before the new glass and trim went in. Everything went back in proper and by the book, the new Toyota glass is amazing compared to the POS that was in there before. When I picked it up, the techs waved me into the service bay and BS'd with me for about half an hour, we talked all about these trucks, their quirks, the ins and outs of auto glass in general. They also showed me all the Sika products they use to bond everything in and what they've learned at auto glass conventions over the years. All pretty cool stuff and I'm glad to have another project crossed off and know that I'm good to go for years now.

Sure, Car Tech Auto Glass in Edmonds, WA. When I asked Torfab for a recommendation in the area, that's who they suggested. I'm glad I went with them, they're some of the rare folks that actually take pride in their work and know their craft. Not some 19 year old tweaker in his van trying to get it done fast in a parking lot (no offense to any 19 year olds on here - tweaker or otherwise).

Thanks! They seem like someone I would be willing to travel to so I have a sense of trust the job will get done right. How many days did the work take?

When I originally scheduled they said 3 days. But, when I spoke with the tech in the morning when I dropped it off he said that was very generous and would only take that long if there were major problems. As it turned out, they got started on it right around 8am, and it was ready to drive home at 4pm the same day.

Ordered 6 more Denso 6731303 coils from Amazon to go along with 2 that I ordered in 2020. I snagged one at $47 and five at $52. I replaced one when I changed plugs last summer. I'm stocking up for doing a VC gasket job and some general preventative maintenance. I'll keep the old ones around and carry a couple as spares in case somebody needs one when on the trails.

Have a few extra days off since I tested + for covid. Been working on tuning suspension, correcting pinion angle, and other bits. It's been mid 80's here and so glad I went with a 8' garage door. Don't have to work in the heat. Also waiting on UPS to deliver some 100 series Eibach shocks.

My DIY roof rack project is now in full swing. Used 1/4” MDF bender board to get the shape i wanted and transferred the shape over to 1/4” 6061 aluminum plate. I don’t have a band saw so i busted out the jigsaw with some metal blades and some Mobile one synthetic to help with the cutting. Now sand the edges to match and then mark out the holes for the crossbars.

Did a bit of spring cleaning. Originally intended to just take the third row interior panels off, one thing led to another, and ended up taking out a bit more lol. I hadn't taken the carpet out since I bought the vehicle back in June, and all up underneath was in major need of cleaning.

Good amount of vacuuming and shampooing the carpet. Sprayed a bit of Fluid Film on a few spots along the rear edge of the floor towards the tailgate. Ended up taking out the floor anchors for the seats to clean and spray some fresh paint on them. Several were in pretty rough shape and getting surface rust.
