If you take your carpet off, you’ll see your floor has TONS of holes and plugs all over it. The hole you make for easier shock access is not enormous, and well worth it. Just find the right size plug and forget about it.
Finishing up big expenses this week. Investing and catching up on preventative maintenance from previous owner on a '02 LX470 with 178K miles. Just finished AHC system flush, new brakes, torsion bar adjustments, replaced OEM AHC springs, new trailing arms, new rack and pinion + ATF fluid flush, new ball joints, and new heater tees. All-together doing some work myself and having my mechanic do some of it I'm about $2500-3000 into it labor + parts. I was lucky and the previous owner already did timing belt + water pump at 170K, as well as a new radiator.
I did come across a set of 17" OEM spec wheels from AUS I could not pass up, so that was a fun investment I'm very happy with. I cannot comprehend why those wheels were never brought to the US, they look so much better than the OEM 16's or 18's.
Next step is to do a full fluid baseline, transfer case, F + R differential flush and fill, and a transmission flush.
All worth the effort!!!! I'll update with pics when it's out of the shop.

I had trouble trying to connect the breather with a fancier ARB setup...I suspect it was plugged for those couple of months and wore out the inner seal.

Out exploring new spots
My build so far. Next week the Kut Snake flares and rock sliders get installed. Then I gotta wait for the ARB number and winch until next year. After that, ARB airlockers.

finished with the rear sway bar bushings (all replaced) … was worried about the ones on the actual sway bar itself, but easy peasy with Dawn as a lubricant… did it by hand … tx for the tip MD 
. Installed the King springs … was saved from making a decision on which way to tackle the rear shock removal when the 2 “washers” dropped from the last PartSouq order became clear, they’re oval and very specifically for the underside of the top mount of the shock … ordered from local Lexus dealer for $40ea, arriving Tuesday … PartSouq was $8ea (+shipping) 
. Installed the bush guard (thanks again @flipckyLC for the donation 
). Depending how cooperative the tog are tomorrow morning, might go through the AHC setup (with the “new” springs but without the new shocks) and see if she will go to High for the first time with me in the afternoon. Plastidip experiment needs some touch ups …

I like the look of that thing a lot. I was toying with the idea of using Plastidip, but a friend set me straight. It may hold up pretty well in some environments, but apparently, it doesn't last long in the Phoenix heat. Rather than going the Plastidip route, I was thinking about doing a flat paint job in either desert tan or olive with black trim.
If I had to guess 2-4 hp. Nothing noticeable. It's ever so slightly louder than stock, I mean barely. I was expecting much louder.
Last week replaced a/c compressor, condenser, and high pressure line. The line was definitely the leaking culprit, but I saw a bit of dye behind the clutch, so just bit the bullet on it all. I used the UAC kit from Rock Auto.
So yesterday I tackled my whining power steering pump. I had checked with a stethoscope, and it was making a racket. 263k miles, so why not. I got it out easy enough (although I broke the vacuum switch
). I thought “may as well spin the alternator to make sure … SON OF A B !&$@“. I couldn’t even turn the darn thing by hand. It was a Bosch with 100k on it. I wonder if all the water crossings I’ve done have anything to do with it. Of course the plug crumbled in my hand 
Now, it’s 5:30, my truck is on the lift but hanging out of my shop (I have a portable lift, and a Mustang project taking up too much room). This isn’t going to end well… Turns out Toyota Fort Worth actually had the plug shell in stock and was open til 7, and O’Reillys in Weatherford had an alternator. So 1.5 hours of driving later I’m back in business. Pulled out of the shop at 11pm. Got the vacuum switch from Amazon today, so all is back together today.
Unfortunately, my steering rack is leaking out of the input shaft…guess I need to start planning for that.

I flew out to Utah and drove back to Boston after finding a rust free lx470. Higher mileage but runs fantastic, was very loved, AND every gizmo and thing works amazingly. It had ghetto aftermarket lights and 24” rims (actually really nice KMC ones but...not my style). However due to desert conditions the paint was seperating clear coat badly so sanded it down, repainted it, and installed some really nice Recon DX4 rims and off road tires. It’s like a new truck. Gets lots of looks. CANT WAIT FOR MY ROOF RACK, LIGHT BARS, BUMPERS AND WINCH TO COME IN! Also ordered a base radio for comms, a Bluetooth gps connector, an iPad mini with MAPS.ME installed, and two sweet x-mounts. Last will be the rooftop tent and the custom drawer system. It’ll be my own design (I’m a custom carpenter/fabricator) that will have ample drawer space and hide my aux battery, air compressor, and a 12” sub Bc I’m a child sometimes and Limp Bizkit dropped a new album. Now we just need class prices down. LETS GO BRANDON!
Its a El Cheapo Home Depot indoor/outdoor rug. It seems more durable than the stock carpet, it was cheap, and the color matches close enough. I'll likely put down a rubber mat next time regardless of color just for the increased functionality.
Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpet. Its cheap and seems more durable. The Cover is 1/4 Baltic Birch plywood with about 4 coats of outdoor Spar Erethane front and back. Its just drilled and rivited to the tailgate. It beats the nasty old carpet when using it as a cutting board. lol.
They're good. Especially considering the price. I think if you’re really loaded and driving fast you can probably use more shock. These seem to handle heat a lot better than other things I've had in the past. After an hour of quick off-road driving they seem to still work pretty well. For casual use such as my use case they work great. I guess they are digressive as they feel fairly resistant to body lean on the road which I like. Next set of shocks would be something like Kings or the Dobinsons IMS when these wear out. I'd buy them again without pause if that answers your question. Again I'm just a casual user though.
