My honest opinion, I probably could have gotten away with using the original flanges. I didn't sense any extra ordinary wear when comparing the old to the new and the new to the new.

I was in the same boat, but I'm glad I changed my flanges out for peace of mind. Plus, now you'll have spares on hand in case those ever strip out.

I'm planning on keeping the oe flanges and grinding them down as trail spares incase my diff goes out

I've had my Land Cruiser up on jack stands all week replacing the lower ball joints, bearings, races, etc.... Honestly, this has been a bit more work than I expected it to be.

Just ran into my front ABS speed sensor completely stuck in the steering knuckle and it ended up breaking off inside the knuckle, along with a couple bolts. Looks like this project is gonna run another week while I wait for parts....

By the way, the lower ball joints were a total Pain In The Ass to unseat from the knuckle.

The abs sensor are usually stuck beyond hope. I find it much easier to disconnect them under the hood and then unscrew the bolts along the wire and take the whole pigtail out with the knuckle. That way I don't have to deal with the actual sensor!

As some of you may recall my house mate's pet pigs ripped the rear bumper off the 105 a few months ago.... but the good news is a replacement arrived on a a ship to the Island last week. I'll fit it soon.

On Sunday we thought we'd test the newish Rola roof tray with some wild barbecue ingredients. It's a good rack and seems fairly corrosion resistant.

Thanks for the note, I'll probably do that next time after learning my lesson on this job. I didn't feel like I was prying up too hard, but then the housing for the sensor cracked.

The passenger side came out completely fine and all the bolts came out easily as well. The driver side is a completely different story however.....

Trail Tailor upper and lower rear control arms. Handles tight now! Ready for a track day at Laguna Seca...... or not... Install was pretty easy. Rear feels less mushy and road noise transfer to cab has been greatly reduced. Old bushings were smoked.

Decided to repaint the grey stripes on the plastic cladding. The grey is very similar to the popular concrete grey on newer Toyotas. Taped, hand sanded with 300 grit, cleaned and sprayed. Used the whole can of color and 75% of clear.

From 10 feet it looks great, but I’d give it a 7/10. It’ll work for now. Actually turned out better than I expected.

Edit: no pictures, but I covered almost the entire sides in newspaper while painting

Big weekend for Lando…x2 new O2 sensors (front), new PCV, air filter, and heater T (just one).

Honestly, the T kicked my ass. I’m short, with T-Rex arms. But I’m so glad I did it. I replaced the hoses (all three sides of the T) too. 2/3 of the T was disintegrated. I didn’t even bother trying to save the hoses lest some of that old plastic fall into the cooling system. Just removed the hoses with the T attached. A failure waiting to happen.

Now that I’ve got two, it eliminates any and every objection to taking a road trip with the older LC.

I popped a P0171 CEL. I didn’t think it was the sensors, but wanted to change them out anyway. Have yet to do the fuel filter. I’ll do that later this week. I also fixed a couple of obviously cracked/damaged vacuum tubes. CEL was on until about 5 minutes ago-just went off on it’s own.

It will probably be back…

Completed my audio upgrade with rear dash cam and backup cam. Minor modifications made on the Nak Amp mounting to fit the new unit.

4AWG attery cable for the amp was routed through a factory grommet location to the amp.
