Lots of little things lately. Deep clean and new carpet and pad in the cargo area, backup light and mount (much needed), made a new way to hold my drawers down, ASFIR skids (all 3), breather extensions, new tailgate cover as my old one was 1.5 years old and starting to rot already, new rear Element fire extinguisher (the big one) and mount, and the best thing ever: new titanium sporks and mount. No more plastic silverware and no more opening and closing a stuff sack to get them. A few more little things here and there but mostly just using it!

Edit: I also removed all the brackets and bolts from the floor of the cargo area and taped them up with Tyvek tape. This lets the drawers sit more flush and keeps them from warping when really loaded. Saved a bit of weight too. Also went to UHMW drawer slides to save weight/better reliability in sand/wind.

Is that new OEM carpet in the back and the piece of wood the tailgate cover?

How do you like those bilsteins with the piggyback RR?

@Patron100LC Did you take the valve stem off? Powdercoating might be crusty under there too. I had a slow leak from exactly that... crusty powder coating.

Nice work. I hadn’t seen the card trick before
Full of card tricks!
Learned it some years ago from a Nissan forum when I had a 350z, used it since. Works good as long as it isn’t windy.

Taping is the thing I hate the most about any paint job.

No. My initial idea since I just got new tires, was to remove old, work on the rims and then install new, but it didn’t work for me schedule wise, so I just went ahead with a half job, still much better than that awful pitting I had to look at for the last 4 years.. I suspect the PO had towed a boat, and rims went into saltwater. No rust anywhere but the aftermarket hitch and the wheels.

Well, if you ever need to remove the rubber valve stem, I've seen this.... never tried it though.

Pretty cool, no need to break the bead. They show it on a steelie, wonder if it’ll work with alloys. I guess that with enough lube.. everything fits with enough lube, said the elephant to the ant..

Oh sweet Jesus. I heard that from an elderly lady in a sex shop once, after I remarked that the Godzilla dildo at the top of the wall seemed excessive. Still gives me the chills.

No pics, but yesterday I changed out an oxygen sensor. I am pretty sure it went bad because of an dumb mistake I made. Basically I had a USB Car Charger (plugs in to the cigarette socket) go bad and it blew some fuses. As I was swapping out fuses, I just kind of randomly looked at some of the others. I ended up putting one of them back in the wrong spot (one of the always empty spots) and didn't notice until I tried to drive and CEL came on with some others. Figured it out, moved the fuse back, but ended up with the P0051 code. So far the new sensor seems to have fixed it. Dumb mistake, but I do enjoy learning how to fix new/different things on the LC.

Made a bracket to hold a 5lb fire extinguisher. I didn’t like the idea of having it in the front row like some options in the market. It’s easily accessible just by my right arm in the event of an emergency, yet doesn’t impede even someone with a size 13 shoe like I’ve got!

If someone wants one I’m happy to make a batch, I’ve got some improvements in mind already.

When's the maiden voyage to Hidden Falls?

Maayybe Sunday, but that depends on whether or not my brother and I can get the ARB rear bumper with swingouts installed and wired up on Saturday. Also looking at going up to Merus Adventure Park in Palo Duro Canyon the weekend following Thanksgiving, but that's dependent upon his schedule right now.

EDIT: Gonna have to wait, brother's got some studying to do and it'd be a tight fit to take him, our dad, and my 2 girls out there. Might be weekend of December 10 before I can make it

I've had my Land Cruiser up on jack stands all week replacing the lower ball joints, bearings, races, etc.... Honestly, this has been a bit more work than I expected it to be.

Just ran into my front ABS speed sensor completely stuck in the steering knuckle and it ended up breaking off inside the knuckle, along with a couple bolts. Looks like this project is gonna run another week while I wait for parts....

By the way, the lower ball joints were a total Pain In The Ass to unseat from the knuckle.

Yesterday I stripped down everything to the axle in preparation for replacing it with a new OEM cv axle. Strip down took a total of 38 minutes from the time I had the vehicle safely secured. I don't rush safety.

Install took a little longer, I expected and indeed struggled with removing the axle and re-inserting the new one. Been a while since I did the last one so I forgot my technique. New hardware looks good, hopefully it solves my problems.

My honest opinion, I probably could have gotten away with using the original flanges. I didn't sense any extra ordinary wear when comparing the old to the new and the new to the new.
