Bunch of stuff over the past few weeks.

Bought a salvage-yard subwoofer assembly and refoamed the factory speaker from it. (I had replaced my speaker with aftermarket but it stuck too far out and kept the trim from seating right).
Before (dumb aftermarket speaker):

After (refoamed salvage unit):

also flushed transmission fluid. Toyota records reveal that PO did some form of fluid renewal just 20k miles ago but I couldn’t tell if it was drain and full or a full replacement so I went ahead.

Then I installed the incredible mudflaps from @ramangain : edit: @Ramathorn15

And then I was driving yesterday and heard an ominous grinding sound when braking at low speeds….yeah, metal on metal on one rear pad. I could’ve sworn I had checked those….arrrgh. We’ll, I put new genuine pads and rotors on today—putting down the rotor expense as tuition at the school of learning from your mistakes….

Not my mudflaps, you must have meant @Ramathorn15

Replaced the gas cap, all three wiper blades (OEM), and finished up the rebuild of the headlight trim. Been running without the trim pieces for about a year, which partially self-destructed when I removed them to replace one headlight, and completely bit the dust when I had to repair the bumper cover.

I used chineseum replacements from ebay, paint from Automotive Touchup, and OEM screws and clips to reattach everything.

My paint job is definitely not professional, but fitting for a 19 year old truck. I'm happy enough with the results. Asked daughter #1 what she thought of the work, and got a "Dad, umm, I never noticed they were missing."

Note to self: label all the parts as soon as they arrive to associate them with a project. Had all this stuff for 9 months, took a while to figure out what was what, and reprint the exploded diagram from partsouq.

I took my headlight assembly off yesterday and was surprised that little tab towards the center is fiberglass that broke off so o gorilla glued it for now

Rear brake day here too.

Thank you. I got the wedge bulbs did all the map lights and courtesy lights. Just need to do the domes and the taillights. Do you like the reverse light output?
So far so good. The pattern is much wider than the stock bulbs (duh). I was a little surprised at how much better rearward visibility is and I've actually found that pretty handy in the 3 nights I've had them in......also allows drunk speeding tourists to actually notice you backing out of your parking spot after dinner LOL.

Nearly finished my 4X4Labs bumper build- 1 spindle left and building the arms of the carriers left, and then, in a pique of conscience, decided that the first day of a long holiday weekend should be spent cleaning the old girl up, pulling out the front seats, vacuuming the whole area, and “steam cleaning” the carpet. wiped down everything in sight as well. Next two weeks will be wrapping up other projects, then I think I may play with her for the rest of the summer.

Replaced the driver side exhaust manifold. Was a significant pain. I did the passenger side a few months ago and used an OEM manifold. Went with a Doorman for the driver side to save some money since the OEM manifold wasn't exactly impressive. So far so good on the Doorman but if I had to do it again I would use OEM or Doug Thorley.

I didn't see much if any mention of the bracket/wiring connectors on top of the transmission when reading up on how to do the job. When I jacked the engine up I managed to bend the bracket, had to reach way down in there and unbolt it in order to get clearance to jack the engine up high enough.

I also did the fuel pump. That was so easy it was like night and day from the manifold job.

As much fun as they are to get dirty, they sure do look good cleaned up! I recently completed the paint work correction and ceramic coating! Also, in recent months added a Bowfin roof rack! Next will be a set of wheels and tires! She is slowly getting there!

Began work on a long overdue replacement of front brakes, including rebuilding pistons in the calipers.
Began by hitting the caliper bolts with penetrating oil (Liquid Wrench followed by Free All) and a 2 foot breaker bar. Making slow progress, 3 foot breaker bar may be on order before weekend is over.

Already discovered three new things at a late age:

1. Much easier to access caliper when wheels are turned (thanks Scotty)
2. By putting a tray under the target of the penetrating oil, you not only protect what is underneath but you can use a liquid dropper to recycle the penetrating oil over and over as it drips down
3. Never spray penetrating oil thorough one of those long narrow tubes they come with without using eye protection

Finally getting around to painting the lip underneath the headlights that was exposed after the body lift. Took the ARB off to change out winches and fix up some little things

Digital FSMs for the win. I always have spare paper in the garage

Changed both diffs and XFER case lubes today.

These Valvoline Flex Fill packets are just sweet. No muss. No fuss. No messy pumps. Even works well on the front diff hole.

Contains a limited slip additive and an anti-foam agent.

I've been doing a lot of off roading and water crossings so I wanted to change the diff lube after 6 months and 3,000 miles. Last change was M1 LS.

A tiny amount of sludge on the magnet.

Color was ok.

Seals from last year's diff maintenance are holding. A mud covering lets you see any leaks.

15 days til her summer break.
Checking things off the list.
For the first time in 2 years, the moonroof opens and closes on its own accord. Turned out the motor just need a good cleaning and some grease. The cables were fine. It certainly makes the trails more enjoyable, but it’s going to take some time to rebuild my trust in its operation

Added an Amazon brand diff breather. Truthfully thought I ordered the name brand, but guess not.
Differential Axle Breather replace for ARB 170112 Kit for Drivetrain Assemblies, Differentials, Transmission and Transfer Case of 4×4 4WD Vehicle Amazon product ASIN B07V3C77HY

Finished off the passenger side cv reboot.
This will be my second time using these. The driver side is still holding up after a year. This is the longest I’ve had a cv boot last. Highly recommend

(might want to redact that mailing address...) That said, the red CV boot adds 1hp per side, it's science.

Moonroof motor cleanup/ lube- how involved is the teardown/ replacement? Does the whole headliner come out and/ or what's the process? My truck's a similar age and I think a lot of the window/ moonroof tracks/ motors/ etc. could use a good clean. No alarming sounds or anything, but sometimes you can hear the motor maybe a little more than I think you should.
