Finally got the second seal seated the way I want it seated. The second is always a charm.

Bought my first Land Cruiser! :)

98 LX470 with 204k mile. I‘ll need to fix some nagging electrical issues (driver window, climate control buttons) and do some amateur rust repair on the hatch but otherwise a super clean interior and a thick stack of recent service records including timing belt and AHC overhaul!

Look forward to sharing first adventure into the LC world and hopefully contributing to all the awesome knowledge on here!

Started out to replace a failing tensioner pulley and found the tensioner to have a serious crack in it. I suspect this has been the source of an unexplained noise from the engine bay I've been hearing since my timing belt job. Very fortunate it hasn't totally failed on me as I can only imagine it'd take the fan and radiator with it!

Congrats! For the climate control buttons, some people have had luck cleaning and shimming them. I replaced the momentary switches following a thread on here. It was like $10 and took maybe a couple hours.

Yeah, I’ve been through the threads, so much info! I’m going to try cleaning first and at the same time look for a spare. Soldering is not one of my strengths so I may try a different unit and see if I can repair my original.

My AirLift airbags were troublesome when I wheeled and I kept pulling the lines off the bags or ripping the bags themselves when I stretched the suspension out.

I was tired of replacing parts and finally got some OME heavies. I'm happy I can wheel and tow and not fret over my suspension.

Ready for a quick trip to UT this Wednesday!

Have been looking into redoing front seats lately.. the rips are driving me crazy. In that link, is that the price for both front seats? Or just one?
For both seats and they are a rellay good deal imo! They fit well and are very hardy!
The only downside is that they don't brraty that well but otherwise great!

Very nice! When you say UT you mean the Utah? It amazes me how casually you call a trip from east coast to UT a "quick trip"!
Here I am planning to get out to west for almost 2 years and I am in midwest!!

Oh, stop planning and go! It's not that long a trip. I will leave after school Wednesday, and by Saturday @kasassy and I will be floating the Green River. Need the desert sun and time on the river to get my head straight. Been a helluva year.

I've been driving with an airbag light on the dash for the past 4 months. Cruise control didn't work either. Techstream scanned as B0101 - open circuit in D squib. Thought it was a bad connector, but I had a big hunch it was the clockspring.

I ordered a fake counterfeit clockspring from China for $15 shipped (even came in a fake Genuine Lexus/Toyota parts box with a Toyota sticker on it). Yeah, yeah ....I know and totally expect that I'll be doing the job twice. Also, the counterfeit part is missing 2 pins in the top 6 pin connector, and missing another 2 pins in the bottom 4 pin connector. Steering wheel puller makes for easy work. In and out buttoned up in about an hour.

Well, I put it in today. And my airbag light is gone, and my cruise works. Lets see how long, but when it goes, I'll be paying the big bucks to put in a genuine OEM for like $300-400. $15 vs $300+, I'll take my chances and do the labor twice.

What started as a quick tire rotation turned into fixing broke studs and replacing lug nuts. Using an air hammer and Kroil Oil was the trick to getting them out quick. Getting them back in was made easy by using the Lisle wheel stud installer. Also got my matching spare just in time for my first tire rotation. Back to races we go.

Carpeted my SS1 platform. Something I have been meaning to do since I bought it over 2 years ago.

Ebay carpet ($40 for 2 yards by 80"). Was going to do a camel tan, but knew I would get it dirty throwing tires, etc..back there. Dark Brown it is.

I used spray adhesive to secure it. The carpet is pretty forgiving for hiding any upholsterer imperfections, but by using one continuous piece, it does make it so it gets in the way of the hinges and does not 100% flat when folding away the sleeping platform part.

I'll see if there is anything I can do to fix that when I get the additional yard of carpet to finish the backside. Part of the reason for doing this was to also protect the pricey REI Exped Duo sleeping mattress I bought to put on top of this.
And the final product.........

Kind of a last minute idea, but I inlayed the only chunk I saved of an OEM cargo mat from my 95 LC that I haven't owned in 20 years. I didn't even wipe off the 1995 dirt. I guess all that time working in car audio in the 90s making speaker boxes paid off on this project. Took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I think it turned out pretty cool.
