Bought my first one in colorado, then drove it 1800 miles home to new york so i can fill it up, and move out to colorado, hah.

I hit a deer leaving yosemite maybe 50-100 pounds at 30mph, somehow it managed to just ruin my trim under grill and right side headlight where its no longer flush will need to bend metal back in place to make it look new again. 70 bucks new trim, 50 bucks touch up paint for new trim, and somehow bend the metal back in place or get a shop to do it.

I think I may get a ARB deluxe bumper, don't want to deal with this again.

Replaced all coil packs
Replaced all spark plugs
Timing belt & related parts
Replaced radiator & hoses
Refilled with Toyota red & distilled water
Drain & fill trans

Drove the piss out of it. 167k on the clock and I fully expect it to go another 100k with this service. This is my wife’s kid carrier and grocery getter. She puts about 200 miles / month on the truck so we should be good for infinity years at this rate.

Picture is from when it melted a spark plug and coil boot. Had to tap the head and sleeve so the new spark plug could go in and be torqued correctly. Pro-tip: check to make sure your spark plugs are torqued correctly.

I hit one this morning about 5am in Northern Michigan. Low speed strike as I saw it and jammed the brakes. Right front turn signal destroyed, some damage to fender where the signal attaches. Crazy thing is I had 3 close calls all within 5 minutes on the same road. The first I narrowly missed, 2nd I hit, third not too close. Thinking about a new bumper as well.

Sorry to see that happen. Just ordered and received a bug deflector like yours. I really enjoy watching your Skydio 2 videos.

This is the only reason I bought a bumper...after the fact. 100s are tough, but elk hurt - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/100s-are-tough-but-elk-hurt.1220528/ Don’t be me - get yours before it happens to you.

Thanks to @PADDO and YotaMD, changed AHC fluid and I measured my pressures and got them into check except for rear. Which is still kind of high, but the ride is much better than the day that I bought it.
Also installed a huracan tailgate system. Very happy with it.

Sorry to hear about the deer. My headlight trim looks about the same from a fender bender but I don’t think the metal bumper hanger bracket underneath the trim is salvageable. Anyone know the part name or number for the bracket? I need to get bracket and headlight trim sorted before ordering an aftermarket bumper.

I saw this on ebay when I purchased the new trim, I'm leaning towards taking to a small family owned body shop for a good cash price to install and bend the metal back in place so everything is good as new. Will report back here with results.

@bdobyns 😂 i kept everything else stock. I don’t do any “off-roading”. Tried that when I was younger and it got expensive quickly. I’m mainly here for the DIY community and wealth of collective knowledge.

Ugh me too, got all lights off related to exhaust these lights are the only ones still lit. My mechanic said I’m not in limp mode or anything, maybe abs sensor. Lmk what works for you.
The ABS and VSC are tripped by the O2 Sensor - they may not be faulty. My 07 Sienna tripped the same thing 2 winters ago. Scan tool said one O2 sensor was bad. Fixed it, and then on the test drive the CEL went again (but a different O2 sensor). Fixed that one and never had the CEL light come on again (and the ABS/ VSC went out, too!). On THAT test drive I got stuck in the snow and had to get pulled out. Suggesting a 4wd to my wife resulted in the LX470...so it all worked out!

My low speed strike with a pronghorn caused $3600 damage - without a wrinkled piece of metal. Just bumper, lights, protection film and labor. I'm in the middle of an ARB install right now.

Maybe drive faster next time?

kidding, glad you are safe. And your cruiser

Still chasing the P0171 (I am trying to do everything short of pulling the fuel injectors!) - replaced the upstream O2 sensors (Denso 234-4169).
Plan was to also replace the downstream O2 sensors but took one look at the state of nuts and decided it 19F is too freaking cold to deal with this. Anyone has any ideas how to deal with this without resorting to cutting and welding?
