Past few weeks i've been chipping away at 90k service items and other misc maintenance stuff. Literally a bolt or two at a time. Made a ghetto crank pulley holder out of some aluminum angle and flat stock i had laying around. I have the rad out to replace it, so it was ridiculously easy to use my Dewalt impact on full ugga-dugga setting to zip the crank pulley bolt out. I also broke the cam pulley bolts loose with the holder still on the crank pulley. Working slowly but surely to do t-belt, water pump, crank seal, cam seals, t-stat, all iders/ pulleys, serp tensioner, alternator, radiator, fan bracket, fan clutch, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, plug gaskets, heater tees, all rubber hoses and probably some other misc stuff i'm forgetting.

In my zeal to clean out the crud from the crank pulley threaded holes i tapped right through the plastic timing belt cover behind it. Think RTV would hold, or should I just pony up for a new one?

Going to do the same thing

After watching some Plasti dip videos, I'm considering using regular spray paint. Lots of curves and grooves on the grill so I used lots of tape. Tape must be pulled while Plasti dip is wet, or else it will tear off.

Or I might use a razor blade to cut the edges before I peel. Anyone try that?
 
Ha! I didn’t see that in the background until after posting. Truthfully, the LC doesn’t see much garage time bc of the Bronco(s). It’s a ‘71 I bought off the original owner 3.5yrs ago. Original paint, originally sold in town, 110k miles now, and upgraded to era correct disc brakes and PS (current project).View attachment 2288487View attachment 2288488

Not that it matters much now - but @2001LC showed me the correct way to hold the pulley while loosening/torqueing the bolt.

Both ways are correct. The toyota SST uses the threaded holes in the pulley to hold it. That's a pipe wrench with some of the old tbelt under it to hold it. 6 of one , 1/2 dozen of the other.
 
My cargo drawer/sleep platform is 99% finished. Just need to decide on a trim piece for the top edge and attach the rear flaps to bridge the gap between the box and seats when folded. If I'd known how nice it was going to look as is, I'd taken better care fitting the face trim above the drawers. Overall I'm super pleased with the finished (almost) product.

Plenty of room for tool bag and jumper cables. Each drawer is 36"x18x8.25".

Used some old climbing runner material as pulls for the side wings.

Hi! How did you fix the net on the back of the front seats. Can you share more details. I am looking to fix them and cant find a solution. Thanks
There is probably more than one thread on this, just run a search for it. Many people, including myself, just run a new bungee cord, or tighten up the existing one. Cheaper than new parts, and you have to take the seat back back off anyway.

Nice to see another 100 on the road! I don't see many in my neck of the woods. We bragged about our high mileages (I won at just shy of 220,000) and how much we love our trucks.

If he loved his truck that much he'd find it in his heart to buy a $30 used ebay taillight for it....
 
I finally got around to replacing my rack bushings with WhiteLine bushings. Can say the steering is noticeably firmer. Also, while we’re slow at work, I was able to put the cruiser on a rack and tackle the front wheel bearings. All I can say is that I’m highly disappointed in the previous repair made prior to my ownership. The lock washer on the drivers side was put on incorrectly, and the passenger side was completely loose. Silicone was used in place of a drive flange gasket, leaving the cone wedges stuck more so than normal. Thankfully Cruiser Outfitters has everything I needed.

Picked up my Ironman lift kit... have everything I need to complete my suspension. Before I start installing everything, does anyone have any experience with failing tie rod ends? What are the symptoms? Doing the ball joints and don't want to miss anything.

Actually, my plastidip peeled fine without any razor blade action, and after the product has dried. Separated perfectly and predictably at the transition between trim and paint. Almost like magic.

That said, skipping the glossifier was probably a bad move on my part, as it has not held up well on the chrome on my LX470 grill. I'll be removing it to recoat with paint.
