Clear coat repair last weekend.

Used a razor blade and compressed air to remove as much of the "white" clear coat that is no longer bonded with the paint. That was the most difficult part to blend. Tried light wet sanding but the original paint is much softer than the cleat coat.
The repair is far from perfect but provides protection and looks better than it did. The finish is a little dull but I hope to brighten it up with a little buffing.

Why not just wrap it?

or Plastidip?

I didn't give those options much thought. My goals were low cost, DIY, relatively quick. I wanted to slow down the degradation of the finish.

The 2001 LX got the Slee rear bumper and roof rack off my 2006 before I sold it to a family member. I loved my ‘06 but having two of the same car in the driveway was boring me and I found myself preferring to drive the ‘01. The ‘06 was CLEAN and I was always nervous to mess it up, the ‘01, not so much. It was the chariot of choice on a 5,000 mile trip to Guadalajara /San Miguel de Allende, MX and back in Janurary.

My girlfriend and I both work in the city so we ride together nearly everyday and the ‘01 is perfect for the shortish commute. So naturally I started looking at other options and well, you know what happens when you stay up too late on the internet, you start to get wild ideas. A couple plane tickets later and I have the newest member of the family on the way, straight out of Colombia. 1983 FJ43

Dobinsons springs and TBs and shocks all around . Went with C59-223V springs for the rear, which aren’t listed for the 100, but are variable rate, 100kg constant load , 40mm lift 80 series springs (which translates to a 10mm loft for a 100, according to my calculations made using springs Dobinsons lists for both platforms), which I thought would be perfect for our needs.
Love it—about 22” hub to fender at the back. And I set the fronts at about 21”. Around the block drives while dialing in torsion bars indicate it’ll be nice and firm but not uncomfortable.

Edit/PS: the Dobinsons rear shocks use a 19mm nut up top, so buy both a 22 (for the OEM top nut) and 19mm ratcheting flex head wrench and spare yourself the trouble of wondering why you seem to be going nowhere with the 22 and/or the trouble of using a regular box-end 19 to tighten things up...

Pardon the crepe myrtle photo bombing the below.

Finally finished wiring in my winch with a BlueSea disconnect. Wasn't a fan of having the winch connect directly to the battery in case something went wrong with it so I've been running around with nothing connected for the last 6 months. Excuse the dirtyass engine bay, a dry weekend and I will be cleaning it up.

Totally agree. I decided to go with a 400 amp fuse that I can remove when not in use. Installed it yesterday. I cringe when I see winches or really anything directly connected. to a battery. The military battery terminals are reasonably priced and make connecting stuff a bit easier than the smaller oem.

Another affordable, quick, DIY and not least, lasting, is to spray it with Raptor-liner. Although, it is not easily reversable...

It may not be for everybody, but I like the way my cruiser is looking, and also like the fact that when parked, it will not dent or scratch easily. Which means neighbors need to be more careful not to ruin their doors...

Any idea what the details will be? I was thinking of pulling the trigger tomorrow on a used set, wondering if I should wait
The tire store owner did not know the exact details, other than it started May 15th. He expected it to be $50 or $70 off a set of 4.

Installed these today. Setting up camp in the dark just got a lot easier.

Figured out how to take out the front seats and swapped the NAV boxes in my ‘05 and ‘07. Now both NAV systems work, WTF?

Also fitted the SOR Tuff Duck seat covers in the 2005 so that it is ready to become my beach truck in MA.

Got some 7000# quick jacks to play with today and did a little lifting in the driveway. Still need to balance out the blocks to get all 4 off the ground at the same time. Also flushed the power steering since the front was in the air, and added a magnafine filter in the return line. You know when your fluid looks like used motor oil you’ve waited waaay too long. Went with Royal Purple ATF and some ATP-205. Here’s hoping it refurbs the seals as it cleans up the crud, and doesn’t end up leaking all over the driveway. For those looking for necessary parts, I used 3/8” barb brass male-male and some clear 3/8” tubing to hook to the return line to drain into a bucket, reused the old line after I cut a few inches out. Used 4x Breeze constant torque hose clamps so I don’t get any leaks.
