They shut schools down today for the 1/4” we got. The snow pics were from northeastern Kentucky

I remember when I was a kid, and we had learned (from american movies of course) that if it was snowing a lot, they would shut the school down.

Well, long story short: It never happened!

Sometimes we had 50-60cm, and in the nine years I attended compulsory school, nothing ever happened that shut the school down....

Finished up doing my valve cover gaskets as I've tightened them up about three times since i bought the truck three years ago, and already had the kit in the garage.

Job was fairly easy, i just wish i did it before the lift was installed.

The spark plug rings were easier than last time i did them on a friend's cruiser. Having a big socket to hammer them in made it super easy.

My only concern during the job was the very noticeable varnishing on the rear end of the drivers side. Is that normal? What would the cause be and can i prevent it from happening?

I used synthetic on my first two oil changes when i got the cruiser but switched back to Toyota regular after springing a rear main seal leak shortly after. So maybe the synthetic cleaned up the varnish but didn't finish the job?

The rubber was nonexistent on the old bolts.

Where'd you source the kit from, sir?

Replaced the rear hatch handle assembly. It was a little rusty...

Bought it (technically 3 weeks ago). 2003 LX 470. Super clean inside and out. 237k on the clock as of last week. Replaced low beam bulbs (i really wish there are an easy plug &play solution to make these brighter). Opened up the steering column and adjusted the extension of the steering wheel (bad telescoping motor). Had the AHC fluid flushed and replaced, a new alignment done, CV boot replaced(will need to do the other one soon).

Installed VaisTech SL3b-L Bluetooth adapter. I managed to crack both air vents (broke one completely in two, superglued it back together, but will eventually replace both)

I discovered that rear 12v outlet doesn't work. I also need to find a better solution for that child safety seat tether and the weathertech cargo liner.

I haven't driven her since taking her in to have the alignment done and a recall taken care of a week ago. I broke the only key i have, couldn't find anyone to cut any of the blanks I'd bought online for less than $75 each, and I'm waiting for ACE to order one of their shells/this cut key I bought off ebay to arrive. It's killing me because I love driving this thing!

Anyhow, my next projects include: rear suspension links, backup camera, running board and mudflap delete, LED strip lights to replaced the running board lights, and running down some of the electronic gremlins I've encountered.

How many 's was this? I wanna do mine and spray some fluid film in there.
It was a  job, but can get frustrating. Just take pictures of how it’s connected before disassembly. Also, make sure you don’t break any connecting clips taking it apart. Apparently Toyota doesn’t sell them separately. DB

Replaced low beam bulbs (i really wish there are an easy plug &play solution to make these brighter).

There is!

Get HIR bulbs (9011 and 9012) instead of 9005 and 9006.

Very small modification of one tab on each bulb. Done in 20 seconds with a nail-cutter.

Sadly, this is an LX

Unfortunately the LX uses H1 bulbs in a projector housing, making an upgrade a good bit more complicated. That reminds me I didn't say it was a 2003 LX 470!

HIR will still work in the high beam locations at least. Worth it.

1- Sweet shiny new calipers (with pads and rotors, of course)
2- Sweet shiny new CV axle on the DS
3- Doubled my MPG, cut my commute time in half.
