You guys running the tough dog shocks, have any of you ran OME in the past for a comparison ? I was told by a friend to avoid the OME due to a harsh ride. I should have listened these shocks are really stiff , and I’m looking to possibly change to a softer shock.

As a matter of fact, yes. In my personal experience, the OME shocks were very harsh (still running their torsion bars). The Tough Dogs were a HUGE improvement in the front. Added with new UCAs it rides better and reacts better than it ever has while I've owned it.

From what I've read while researching shock options, Ironman is a pretty solid option for our 100s, but Tough Dog's larger shock option on the front and adjustable option on the rear makes them the front runner.

From all that I've read on here, if my AHC ever dies (194k miles and counting while still working perfectly) I will be converting to Tough Dog shocks for sure!

I just replaced my knock off oem replacement rears from PO with 41 mm tough dogs. Very happy in the back. Now to the front. Maybe we need a tough dog thread?

First we sampled Adirondack water quality...

Then we headed over to Vermont to meet @kasassy and camp in the Green Mountain Nat'l Forest for the night.

Well this is over the past week or so:

Removed broken shock and replaced rears with Tough Dog 41 mm. Drove it and it was great. Leatherique'd the seats. Was not wowed by it. Yes it cleaned up the leather and seemed to make it a bit more supple. However, cracks are more apparent now, guess the grime was hiding them a bit.

Got some more maintenance done today. Oil change, oil filter, transfer case fluid change, rotated wheels, replaced rear brakes and rotors, fixed a little wiring that got damaged on trip. Broke a brake pad retainer clip taking a pad out. Since the Akebonos didn't come with hardware I ended up getting advanced auto's platinum car quest setup. Brakes feel sooo much better, mine were toast. Shoulda done before trip.

Next up will be to replace bushings on rear sway links (parts coming from partsouq) and install tough dog fronts. Those should be relatively easy jobs...

Got a lifetime alignment here in Brentwood, CA. It was on sale for $179.99, thats a bargin as far as I'm concerned. I had installed OME torsion bars and OME rear springs. I love the ride now!

GOT A LIFT! The Tough Dog is EXTREMELY SMOOOTTHHHHHH on road! Feels like my Aunt's Lexus LS460. WAY better than the spongy boat-like OEMs. @reevesci was very helpful and informative! I was a total newb and he basically walked me through how everything worked, Anyways here is a pic! Lol. Might need bigger tires now, the 33 kinda looks small with a lift.

Looks really good. What size lift did you purchase? And how much did it actually lift? Looking at their website, it sounds like a 2” lift might provide much more than 2” on a truck without bumpers and a bunch of gear.

Gave myself heat exhaustion doing valve cover gaskets and plugs. Found 5 of the 8 coil packs with significant cracks on the shafts, so those are being replaced along with the fuel filter.

Time to start looking for a house with an air conditioned shop! and I should buy a parts washer too...

Double post... Delete please.

I had a Clunking sound in the passenger side front door when closing it and it was louder with the window up.
So I took the door panel off and fond the channel was not attached on the lower part anymore on one side and the screw that fell out of the door the first time I took it apart magically does fit the hole that fixed the clunking!

I LOVE when that happens!

Put my roofrack on and added a windscreen sticker. Massive power gains from both mods :) Got under the carpet and loosened all the body mount bolts so now she's off the road until I finish the body lift. Time to get moving on my custom bars after that...

Was thinking SAS'd? then I saw Aus... 105... 2023 ain't that far away

Tough Dogs went in this week - 53mm fronts and 45mm adjustable rears. The cruiser sits so much better now. Haven't had a chance to wheel it yet but on road it feels firmly planted, especially during turns. The ride is noticeably firmer but then again I only had 20 year old springs and shocks to compare it to. Apologies for the poser shot.

Yes it's a 105. Is it 25 years to import from Aus? Can you get around it because the 105 was a model that was never offered for sale new in USA? I know that the case if we're importing to Aus, it's only the left hand drive that we have to change if the car doesn't pass as a historical vehicle.
