Was on craigslist and scored this - Spanking brand new Total Chaos Fabrication Upper control arms for $350. Couldn't pass on this one. UCA's had been on my list of things to do and I'd been keen on the Nitro-gears but this was a deal worth giving a shot. Keen on what experience I'll get from them. Next project - install UCA's

I saw those and almost pulled the trigger on them. I wasn't familiar with the brand.

Front, Center and Rear differentials swapped over to Mobil1 75-90LS (98 LX with LS rear), complete coolant flush and replace (got rid of the "green" crap put in by PO and replaced with Toyota Red). Doing the AHC purge and replace this afternoon. Tires go on Thursday. This is my "maintenance sprint" before leaving to CO on Friday to do a whole bunch of wheeling (my own personal Hundred in the Hills).

Installed in-cab switch for Blue Sea 7622 battery controller and locker switch in preparation for front and rear Harrop E-lockers.

Sheeeaaaaaat.

I wish I had paid that for mine.

You'll be happy with them. I had the SPCs on my 4R and was always nervous about them failing.

I spent too much time on automotive forums reading about how a few of them failed.

Changed the spark plugs to denso iridium's and clean the Maf sensor a few days ago, the original owner put in some ngk's that didn't look too bad when I took them out. I was getting between 12-14.5 mpg before. Made my wife snap a pic on our way home from the beach the other night, mostly highway, down to 16.5 now after some round town driving.

Unfortunately just natural physics. Every awning I've ever owned has sagged, no matter what brand. My 270 degree bat-wing Trail Tailor awning has as well. I thought about adding a strip of 14-16 gauge spring steel to the inside on each end to help eliminate the sag. But, it'll only sag so far.

Mine also has three outer straps that help with the sag, but they are at their limit.

I think there are two designs to ARB's awning bag. I have this one:

But I see this one on older posts:

The one I have fits super snug all around. It's the one currently shipping. The second one pictured is the original and has a loose fit from the factory. I'll see what happens over the next year. Hopefully it looks just as good. I may just upgrade to the new aluminum housing when it's available.

Installed some green springs. Dobinsons C59-169. Depending on where you get your info they are either stock height, slightly above or up to 2 inches of lift.

My LC100 weighs about 450 lb more than stock. After a couple days I will measure again, but right now I am at 1.5 to 1.75 inches over my tired OEM springs which were sagging. Ride feels great. Very little stink bug (front is already cranked). I would have taken more pics but it was dark by the time I finished.

Edit 1: I feel I should point out that the shipping from Dobinsons was super fast and the finish on these are beautiful. Fit and finish was on par with the Ohlins (rear mono, coilover) spring that I had on my GSX-R1000.

Edit 2: After allowing the springs a few days to "settle", I ended up with about 1.5 inches of lift. So the whole "your springs will settle" thing that people always talk about did not happen. I am guessing that if my baseline measurements were taken on a truck with strong OEM springs the resulting lift would be something more like .5 inch to 1 inch. After loading it up and taking the entire family to the beach, the ride and was great. Exactly what I was hoping for. Not too firm, not too soft. Just right. I am 100% satisfied.

I've hit 20MPG before averaging 40mph, so not shocking to see that number when you're averaging 33mph.

Replaced both of my exhaust headers with OEM replacements. I'm in CA, so DT headers were not really a choice if i want no issues with smog inspection. I tackled the driver side first, knowing it would be the most time consuming. Yep, estimates are right 6-7 hours. I probably could have saved an hour if I didn't spend so much time messing with the heat shield trying to get it out before removing the manifold itself. Passenger side only took about 2 hours. That too would have been faster if I would have torqued down all the nuts before re-installing the heat shield. Doh! :slap: I had left one only finger tight - good thing I saw it when I went under to torque the 3 exhaust pipe nuts!

Also replaced the alternator, mine has 110k miles on it. I had pinpointed my whine to the alternator using a stethoscope. Figured it was just an alternator whine, so I replaced it. Unfortunately, whine is still there. Replace the lower radiator hose at the same time while I was there, it was probably original, just PM.

Now to keep tracking that whine. If only I could attribute it to a supercharger under the hood, sadly that is not the case...

Old / New Driver Side Manifold

And yes, I found the leak!!! (can make out the crack where the light is coming through on the left side)
