Chuck, I picked up a set of gasket hole cutters at Harbor Freight for cheap...Real nice to have if you are into making your own gaskets.

Pulled a wild bill down at uwharrie today :D

Looks like you were prepaired though!

Scavenged a trashed rear axle for all it's good parts and rebuilt my rear driver side axle. Started on the fronts (to finish installing the new seals) and found my lower ball joints are sloppy...heh-heh-heh! Got to pick up some new Moog ball joints tomorrow and finish it up.

Bent axle housing that I scavenged...

Finally dragged the ol fj40 out in preparation of the 60 axles, tbi350,sm420 and other stuffs. Poor girl has been neglected too long. Also found out that a tow hook bolt on an fjz80 can be substituted for a caliper bolt as mine fell out. Going by service records the Lexus dealer was the last one to have the front end apart and they didn't loctite anything. One caliper bolt fell out, another was finger tight, and another was just past finger tight. Gave me a good scare when the front right tire locked up coming up to a stop sign.....

Yeah, some punk teenager says he just hit a curb. The whole truck was covered in mud, so I'm sure he was doing something stupid to bend the housing like that. It was officially a 13* angle. ACC swapped in another whole axle assembly for him.

Finished up one side in the ball replacement task. It was kind of a bitch to do...pressing the old one out and the new one in. It's not like pressing bearings in/out, which have a flat surface. The whole lower control arm needs to held up in front of the press...just one of those things where you wish you had three hands. I wound up building a little jig out of some box tube that gave me room for the stud that sticks out of the joint and some round tube for the other surface. This Moog ball joint is the same for most late model Taco's, 4R's and GX's. This one is also greasable, but you got to orient the zerk slightly to the front or back to make it serviceable without removing the CV axle.

Installed the extended travel seat parts from Landtank... great product, but HORRIBLE instructions....

Fixed the rear locker no locking situation.
New used short side rear axle shaft with straight splines and realigned the program plate engagement in the actuator and it worked on the jack stands so hope it works on the trail now.

Oh and pulled my courtesy ring bulb that's been a parasitic drain since I bought the truck. I feel foolish seeing how easy it was to get to after all these years of dreading "taking the dash apart"

Did a coolant flush (planned this time) and replaced the heater valve.
Wrapped the main harness in some heat reflective tape by the EGR while plumbing was out of the way. And bypassed the rear heater with new silicone hose and breeze clamps.

Also was able to R and R the front bumper to fit valance panel. But this time I got smart and didn't drop the winch separately. Bumper is still not straight enough to clear it :( so time for some cutting or body lifting
