Well.... David , Scott and I got alot done on Saturday and then David got alot more done on Sunday.

The 40 will live again, Soon.
Engine moved off the trailer, pressure washed,de greased, tranny and bell housing pulled. Mounted on the engine stand.A coat of paint(ford blue and Sun yellow). New oil pan gasket, side cover gasket,intake/exhaust gasket(won at GSMTR). Also got the newly painted header installed. The Downey header was originally chrome but had some issues with the finish so it got a light sanding and some high temp black paint. Wont be long and well be ready to install the motor back into the truck.

Thanks to everyone who has helped out. I am soooo looking forward to that first drive in the 40.

Nice details on the blades of death there :D coming along nicely

So I finally got my belt/steering pump mess fixed. The alternator was mounted correctly, but my dumbass probably installed the belt wrong where it goes over the fan clutch. It's one of those blindspot areas and I guess I didn't check it "by feel" the first time. When the belt gave way last week the kevlar strands got stuck in the main seal around the steering pump pulley's shaft. The pump leaked out all the fluid. So Saturday I rebuilt the steering pump and discovered that it's impossibly small for the amount of pressure it develops. The vanes in this one are just centrifugal, no springs behind them. Some shots of the innards...

new tires...decided on the hankook (spelling?) M/T's. Very similar to the KM2's from looking at them and much better at 60-65mph on the 40 than the previous mud treks.

No more death wobble!!!

also picked up a new set of OME front 2.5" lift springs.

may go on as early as this weekend.

Those look awesome. Great pics.

the tires are OK...the feeling of hitting 55+ without death wobble is a feeling that pics cannot describe!
