Started installing new Metal-tech sliders and bumpers on the FJC. I really like the MT sliders as they tuck up much higher to the body than my old Bent-Ups. I'll get some pics...

finally got the 4 drums adjusted properly.
For 4 wheel drums she stops on a dime with change left over. By far brakes quicker than the 60 with front disks.
My 2 resevrior master cylinder is in at auto zone, time to make her a little safer!
yeah drums actually aren't that bad....... it amazes me the bad stigma they have as being junk and unsafe, but what most don't realize is with a propely maintained and adjusted set of drums you can stop safely and quickly. People are always so eager to ditch them and drop coin on converting to discs when a little mantaince and some basic knowledge would save you so much.... Heck most Land Cruisers came with drums all round into the 80's outside of North America.
Glad your brakes are top notch, there is no better feeling than being able to stop when you want to...... I've had a couple of cruisers that didn't have that option![]()
When they get wet they suck donkey balls.

when was the last time you were driving down the freeway at 75mph and then completely submerged axle then back up to 75mph??? because that would be about the only scenario where what you said would have any relevance
it is amazing to me how this board at times has the "lemming mentality" , take for instance the single circuit brake master than came in early cruisers... LandCruiser Junky has his system fail and wrecks as a result and all of a sudden people are ripping out the signal circutis and claiming only a mad man or someone with a death wish would dare drive on them. When the truth of the matter is Toyota sold vehicles with that system for 15years and they have for 99.9% held up fine and seved many generations flawlessly. I have got people in my LV build thread telling I better ditch my old metal fan blade because they are "dangerous and not to be trusted" because again one guy had his blade break off and so now eveybody is just jumping ship...... anyways rant off but, sometimes I feel there is so much misinformation on this board and so many people don't seem to want to think for themslevesMost of these systems no matter how old have been highly engineered, and work flawlessly if maintained
damn Marshall you got me all hot and bothered![]()
Damn soap box boy!!! You got your dander up on that one...
The Good Ole' "ball and claw, single circuit cylinder, drum brakes, single barrel carb, metal fan blade, points ignition, dual motor wipers, 3 on the tree" Cheerleader.
Sure you wouldn't be happiest driving an old Model T with a manual crank engine?
Your too young to be so nostalgic.

You need to stop talking now. Mr. I only have one brake that works guy. I will agree that a well maintained stock system works well it most conditions. But you have never had that system. Pinched brake lines, welded brake lines, leaking cylinders, no rear brakes, no parking brake guy. I've seen you dodge the bullet way to many times.
As far as the blades of death. Meh. I agree one that hasn't been checked for cracks or abused is not good. But you would never put one of those on your cruiser without checking it. Wait a second. You are that guy.
I think most people who are giving an opinion or advise would rather give a safer method of doing something than just to slap it back together mafia style and run it. Even Chuck went to four wheel discs. Even though he did it in the most ghetto way. Lol
As well the stock Toyota systems were never designed for large tires, big bumpers and a ton of armor we put on them
that's one clean motor!
