Gordon is still available, just has a different name on the can. It is now labeled "G'Knight". Same exact beer and obviously still named after Gordon Knight...

Oskar Blues changed the name after being issued a cease and desist order by the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group.

Would have been fun to be on the team chosen to "destroy" the remaining cans of Gordon when the decision was made!!

Oh I knew that. I have a 4 pk in the fridge at home. ::flipoff2::

but damn is she fun to drive!!!

Dig-Dug turns 5yrs old today. Still love this truck.

105K on the ODO.

Regular maintenance has been scheduled every 5K/30K and no engine, transmission, or transfer case issues to date. I went through several sets of rear ring/pinion gears before upgrading to Nitro 4.56 gears last fall. I've replaced the front wheels hubs and a couple CV axles due to wear and tear. An additional CV axle was recently tortured into crying "uncle" and thus replaced. I've replaced all u-joints once. I've replaced the spark plugs twice (probably due for thrice). I replaced the lower A-arm bushings. I had a loose accessory wire on my battery terminal and ultimately toasted the altenator this past week. I've got several dings, dents, scratches - some have been dealt a wash of primer and others just admired. Plan on keeping this truck for several 100K more.

Hard to believe thats the same truck. Very nice. I think I've said it before, but... If I had a FJC I would be doing most of the same upgrades you have done. Love the bumper/fender/slider combo.

And x2 on the good times at Tellico. Man I miss that place!

Just got back from driving the FJ on the Blue Ridge Parkway, some FS roads, and a few dirt local roads. Found a few neat places including some wildlife food plots, an old cemetery and got very close to a nice buck in velvet that was bed down. Took lots of pics and will post a write-up soon.

PS: Metal-tech front & rear bumpers along with sliders should arrive tomorrow. WOOT!!!!

Replaced all the o-rings in the a/c on the 60 today....plan on takin it to Marshalls this week to get a vacuum pulled on it and refill it....will be.nice to have a/c again.....also got some new brackets to replace the worn out ones on the front grill....it was a good day

Well last week’s alternator issue has cascaded into more problems. The current theory on why it failed is that the main lead to my secondary fuse panel had broken loose and was overworking the alternator (also explains why the thermostat on my fridge has been acting funny). It was only after disconnecting my main battery leads that I discovered the fuse panel lead was hanging on by a thread. After I finally got the new Denso alternator in place, I reinstalled the serpentine and everything looked great. This was a new serpentine that I had installed only about 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday I was backing out of my parents’ driveway when I hear one of those teeth chattering screeches that belts make when something is wrong with your power steering. I start to cut the wheel and suddenly I’ve got no power-assist. I pull back into the driveway and shut it down. Pop the hood and my new serpentine is shredded. The majority of the grooved rubber is still there on the pulleys but the Kevlar strands have all separated and are wound around every pulley. It looks like one edge of the belt (engine side) started to wear away and then the smooth side of the belt that holds the strands inside split open. Then the strands shot out like a confetti gun.

I had to wait a while for the engine to cool off, but I started working on getting all the spaghetti out of the pulley’s and the worst one was the power steering pump. After cutting, pulling, yanking, and cursing for about 30 minutes I got all the strands out, only to discover that the front seal on the power steering pump had suffered a major blow. The last few strands of Kevlar had been sopping wet and the fluid had been dripping pretty steadily on my dad’s driveway. With the serpentine belt off I start looking for what could have caused the belt to disintegrate. All the idlers looked good and all the accessory pulleys looked good…except that the alternator pulley looked to be a little bit out of alignment. By eyeballing it from over head and sighting it up with the compressor pulley below it, I could tell that the pulley was too far back (towards the engine). It’s off by maybe ½ to 1 groove and that short distance that the belt travels to the compressor only amplifies the issue causing the belt to fray.

After putting on my old belt which I luckily kept as a spare, we head for home. On the way Cat calls Brian from ACC. We decide that we’re driving on borrowed time already, so I head straight for the ACC garage. By the time I get within two blocks of the garage the power steering fluid has completely dumped and I have no power assist again – good timing. Brian meets us at the garage, opens up the gate and I show him where I think the misalignment has occurred. It’s not something he’s seen happen before, but I’ll look into it with him more this week. Maybe we install some spacers or maybe we got a flawed alternator. Additionally, I need to look into a rebuild kit for my power steering pump.

Sorry I didn’t take any pics of the mess, but I was pretty frustrated at the time and I mustered all the calmness I could trying not to get my “Sunday clothes” dirty.

:bounce:On a good note, Cat worked on Bertha on Saturday and we got the transfer case leak taken care of, with a speedy sleeve, some new gaskets and a lot of Toyota red RTV goo (ATF safe, because her t-case uses tranny fluid instead of gear oil).

Sorry to hear about all the issues Rick.

I wish toyota would have done this with the 62. Alot of issues with overheating and killing the tranny when the seal between the tranny and tcase gives way mixing atf and gear oil.

went to rotate rear tire to front and put a 31x11.50 spare on the right rear and found that a wheel cylinder was leaking. The one right next to the one i just pulled apart, bead blasted, honed and cleaned.

So instead of just rotating tires i ended up replacing two wheel cylinders with new ones i had sitting in the garage.

Drove around half the day hauling a 16ft trailer from one house to the other (moving furniture) with my rear brakes not adjusted properly.

Finally cooled off enough last night to crawl on the ground and jack up each axle and adjust brakes one at a time. Had to ruin one of the wife's spoons in order to make an adjuster tool.

But i'll have a freshly brakes all the way around the 40 for my drive tonight out to piedmont where i'll be leaving her to get some new KM2's put on her....32x11.5's.

I sold the FJ Cruiser. I've decided to sell it and the pig and get into a rolling recliner (AKA a grandma FZJ80 if I can find one, or a Hundy if not). The FJ is going to Seattle to live with my brother, Mike.

Sorry for all your issues Rick! Wish I could be there to help...zippy misses you!

I'll tade you my not so grandma FZJ80 for that sweet little piggy :D

finally got the 4 drums adjusted properly.

For 4 wheel drums she stops on a dime with change left over. By far brakes quicker than the 60 with front disks.

My 2 resevrior master cylinder is in at auto zone, time to make her a little safer!

yeah drums actually aren't that bad....... it amazes me the bad stigma they have as being junk and unsafe, but what most don't realize is with a propely maintained and adjusted set of drums you can stop safely and quickly. People are always so eager to ditch them and drop coin on converting to discs when a little mantaince and some basic knowledge would save you so much.... Heck most Land Cruisers came with drums all round into the 80's outside of North America.

Glad your brakes are top notch, there is no better feeling than being able to stop when you want to...... I've had a couple of cruisers that didn't have that option :hillbilly:
