Maguras don't get the respect they deserve here in the US. I have Shimano XTs on my Niner hardtail (now my son's bike), and they are fantastic, but the MT-7s I have on my other Hardtail are insanely good, and you really hear next to nothing about them.

Magura also developed the brakes Campagnolo uses on their road groupsets, and I have those on two bikes (soon a third). They are the best road discs I've ever used.

Looking at Maguras based @bottombracket recommendation. Shimano XTs as well.

Not sure about Shimano but the SRAM codes I had were ok and never bleeding issues they just had pretty bad brake fade issues on long decents. I still need to continue to adjust the M7’s but super happy and strong braking so far. Almost too much but I will take it over the fade issues. The L/R swap may be messing with me more even with the moto background. I can see how they would be great for heavy riders or heavier e-bikes for sure.

New bars for my dirt road tourer. Thanks @gilamonster

Have you had enough time with those Marin bars to form any opinions or conclusions, @OGBeno ? I've been interested in them, but hear they're extremely rigid, no damping at all...

Yeah I’ve got a bunch of miles on them at this point.

They are indeed rigid.

These might be much more forgiving.

Eek, those bars are a little out of my price range. But thank you for the confirmation on the Marin bars: I had tried some Fahrrad moto-style bars and they were unforgiving. Will probably just stick with what I have, and forego the extra mounting locations...

Yeah Beno rides some blingy bling. I'm like, do I really need XTs or will theses MT-BR 200s do? And he's like, do I go with the Paul's or these Italian Company Incas? His lotto pics must have been better than ours. 😂

I just stopped wasting money on old rusty Japanese trucks. 😂😂. Amazing how quickly the bank account fills up for building fun bikes!

For the price of Slee sliders or front and rear re-gear, I can build a pretty bad ass bike.

I run this bar from Mone on my bikepacking rig. A little bit heavy, but so are those Marin bars.

Steel, so you do get some flex and they have the cross bar if you were wanting to use it to mount things.

Got a little crazy this spring and signed up for a 53 miles gravel race in November. I haven't raced in over 20 years. But, should be fun!

So, I don't have a "gravel" bike, but my bikepacking rig is a bit of a do it all bike. I normally have 2.8-3.0" tires, today she got some new 2.4" rekons. Not as skinny as I'd like for the race. But, as about skinny as I feel comfortable on my 35mm rims.

Which race? Great job on signing up. Good move.

And that rig fūcks. 🤘🤘

New rubber! Ultradynamico Mars 2.2. Looking forward to hitting some dirt in them.
