Do the diesels REALLY get that kind of MPG? Are they THAT much more torque? I ask, only because I have never been up close to a Toyota diesel 80.

Is it 25mpg or 25km/g. My diesel 70 got about 28 km/g.

I dont know about actual torque numbers ut all I know is that on hills, I could never keep my speed up and passing other cars was almost scary at times. The fj80 had to downshift all the time to look for power. Now with the 1hdt I can accelerate and pass people while going up hill and keeping it in 5th gear. Descending steep hills while offroading is also a big improvement. That thing is geared so low that I just put it on 1st low and take my foot off the brake completely as it gently rolls down the hill

The HDJ is a 1992 with a h151 manual trans. I purchassed it from a car collecto in Alberta who inported it when it had only 30 some k km on it. The rig on the sig is my first fj80 that I restoredView attachment 1124693 , 1991 117000miles. sold it last week:(. Wish I could afford to keep both!

Wow, and I thought my HDJ was low mileage just coming up on 100,000kms, that thing is brand new! Was yours from Australia, or did you or the PO convert the headlights? Are you getting that fuel economy on 33" tires?

Mine got about 17. But we where driving they the high mountains, running 35's and with a heavy fuel pin. Around town it is a pig.

Went fishing with my wife. Tried our new RTT. Drove over Highwood Pass, the highest highway in Canada at 7249 ft leaving it in 5th gear the whole time. We hit 60'000km on our new HDJ81. Caught a nice fish! Over all great weekend.View attachment 1124678 View attachment 1124679 View attachment 1124680 View attachment 1124681 View attachment 1124684

I get 12-13L/100km, and I'll post a dyno sheet in a couple of weeks for you to see what they are capable of

I received word that my 80 was finally going to be released from shipping jail. My company and the shipper have been fighting over what "NET 30" means, and it looks like I'm finally going to get Marjan back.

Took a walk around my new neighborhood in Germany and encountered this in a neighbor's driveway.

Fron Japan, The importer converted the headlight, changed the beb and, timing belt and added a 3'' exhaust when purchased.
