Chased the cool weather down the cost to Big Sur riverside camping.

X2 on the RTT. I like how simple and low profile it is.

The rack is home made. Basically i got some diamondrax gutter mounts and then ordered some unistruts from mcmasterr. You can get them in custom size, powder coated and are fairly priced. I think the whole thing cost me around 450. I wanted the tent to be as low as possible to keep the highway noise down.

The front to back strut solo purpose is to hang the ladder. Didnt feel comfortable hangin the ladder straight to the tent. The tent is an older Maggiolina top line.

Drove a few miles to pick up this 1988 Isuzu trooper with 165k on the clock. It is a real cream puff and a solid first car for my boy. Plus, it will keep him away from the LC. Let his base lining begin. I'm thinking Miller High Life in a lawn chair to walk him through his initial wrenching experience.

Inline 4 or the V6?

That was my first car, but I think mine was a 87, inline 4 banger and a 5 speed.

Loved that box, except the head gasket went twice on me...

Holy crap those are nice but out of my price range. I'll have to stick with my $40 sleeping platform for now...and the foreseeable future. :)

Changed all the brake pads and shoes, replaced leaking wheel cylinders in the rear and bled the brakes.... I need a beer!

Changed out a broken door handle, cleaned the carpets, and installed some mid-grade WeatherTech mats.

Still debating what to do next as budget is an issue.

Ammo, inline 4 banger with automatic. Japanese engine. I'm sensing a theme with head gaskets (LC and Trooper). It was an Atlanta Georgia buy new, second owner worked for Isuzu, third owner was second owners adult son. Pretty good shape for an '88. Belts, hoses, cap, rotor, valve cover gasket, outer drivers cv joint in need of my boys attention. Amazing how that enamel paint just shines right back up. Old vs. buffed.

Then I decided to see what the inside of my 10 mile BFG KO2 looked like

That's why I run E-rated Toyo's. Sidewall is tough as hell!

These are E rated and supposed to be 20% stronger than the old KO. I didn't actually find out till I got home. Its a 1/4" deep but still holds air, im not quite sure what to do with it
