What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (32 Viewers)

I spent all day trying to figure out why the rs3000 doesn't lock/unlock my doors.
This was my second day long attempt and like many before me, I officially give up.

While I was troubleshooting, I did go through all the connectors in the DS kick panel and opened up them up, emery boarded the posts and added dielectic grease. More than a few had green crud. My guess this was from the windshield leaking for year before I got this rig.

I just discovered my remote entry doesn't work. Literally can't remember when it worked last. Probably at least 5-6 years. I never lock my doors but my wife locked my 80 this weekend while I was gone. When to unlock it and had to use the key. Probably a bad key fob battery...

Did you do the @firetruck41 windshield sealing?
I was luckily able to seal it with RTV silicon along the inside and outside of the gasket and it has held up for ~6 months. I'll do that fix next ;)

Do you carry that flagpole with you or is this a regular spot?

I do carry it with me in a travel bag on my roof rack. It is a very high quality 20' aluminum telescoping flag pole that is MADE IN THE USA. I have a solar powered light on top of it. Here is some info on the company I got it from. The flags they sell are also MADE IN THE USA. I saw it at a gun show in Arizona and they had some good show pricing so I had to have it. They offer all kinds of different poles, flags, and mounts. Hope this helps.

Went out to Hidden Falls Adventure Park for the first time, had a lot of fun but didn't push it hard due to lack of experience. Nothing broke.

I like what you've done with the LineX, Durabak or whatever on the nose of your hood.

Replaced the rear pinion seal and tried leaving it a little proud of recess in housing to get the seal lip off this grove. We shall see but sounds like the bearin is on its way out.

Also found this gem and treated her to a fillup for the 3 hr commute to work which was rained out Monday :(

No pics sorry but @Dr Gil called up and said that his truck is running rough. He came over and he was getting a flashing CEL and a PO303. Ok that narrows things down. A day or two before and he sprayed down his oil caked motor with Gunk and then power washed it off. He was mindful of the distributor cap and the spark plug tubes.

I took off the the valve cover plastic plates and removed the #3 spark plug wire. It was all gunked up with gritty mud. Brought out my CO2 tank and blew air down the tube and about a cup of water shot out. How did the water even get it? Well it turns out the last person who touched it didn't let the wire seal all the way around the tube and instead allowed one side to rest on one of the other spark plug wires. Really freaking lazy. This opening allowed water to get it. Cleared it all out, did a quick ohm check on the wire and plugged it in.

Drove ok for about a block and then it started missing again. This time I grabbed a 5/8" socket and ratchet and removed the spark plug. It looked like it had plenty of deposits but it didn't look fouled nor did I notice a crack in the ceramic would may have caused arcing. I put it back and problem still there. I decided to replace it with a brand new spark plug that I happen to have a spare set of. Button it all up and it drives like a dream again. Turns out having water sitting in the tube was enough to foul the plug.

Word to the wise.

Finally got around to starting my spare tire carrier. Got most of the way done. Have to make a spring pin assembly and cut the extra length off the main body. Paint and mount. But this is where it is now.

I'm SHOCKED you has a spare set of plugs laying around...

Nice. That's my next project.
