I bought this.

Thanks. This is the second 80 I've owned. I sold the last one for a 100. I always missed the 80 and things just lined up and I found this one.

After a long and argues journey with my rig after purchased last October, this weekend will be its first adventure. With much help from so many forum members, a rebuilt engine, new trans, all new exhaust, new 33" mudders, lift kit, front bumper, LID lights, radiator, all new sensors, new roof rack...and a kickin' stereo, she's finally going to get some use after just finishing proper engine break-in.

Thank you to everyone for your advice, assistance, help and service!!! Couldn't find a better group of gentleman (and ladies of course)!!!

Cheers mates, hope to see y'all on the trails someday:)

Hope y'all like what she's lookin' like....still need a bit more armor, lockers and probably some 35's...

Who makes the front bumper? Looks great!

Starting the weekend build early. Bent up some brackets to make it a low profile roof rack. Also got a universal set of sliders from Trail Gear and the 4x4 Innovations bolt on brackets for the sliders. Just going to weld them all up. Total cost for the sliders and brackets was under $380.

Those look just like the marlin crawler sliders. I run them on my Lexus and work awesome!

Added the tow points to my ARB and cut out the wings to box it in.

I need to do this. Where did you get those tow points? Did you make them?

Why did you box in the inside? To keep mud from collecting?

Pat

Installed new weatherstipping for front doors. Also finished up removing a large mesquite tree from our front yard. Took several weekends using the small trailer, had a friend come and help cut the rest down and he let me use his large trailer with hydraulic bed lift. Made unloading at the dump a snap.

I bought them. The link is on my ARB mod thread. I will get the link. The tow points are stupid huge. I need much bigger D-links now :P

I wanted to box the inside to strengthen the wings. I didn't want the side wings to be the weak point of the ARB. I will also be hiding stuff inside :D

Drained/sorta flushed my coolant system. :handthrottle:
Don't know when the last time it was done, but I got some sick green antifreeze out of it, enough of an oil rainbow in it to raise some questions about head gasket.

Installed a block heater (webasto, block heater, oil pan heater, two battery blankets; I think I'm ready for the next Grande Prairie winter)
And in the end replaced the sick green antifreeze with Red Antifreeze (courtesy of my work).

Full rebuild and relube of front axel, installed Longfilds and there life time wipers, repacked all bearings as they only had 40k kms since last rebuild. The Marlin axel seals I had failed with in 10k kms pumping grease into diff and oil into knukles. Used OEM Toyota ones this time hoping for better results.

Also installed new reman front calipers. All in about 8 hours, 8th toyota axle rebuild :(

Plasti-dipped the grill and two pieces above the headlights. I'll do the other trim bits next weekend.

Also, put on the two steel rear bumpers.

And got a new head unit installed (no need for pics).

I still bent mine. :crybaby: Stupid huge can still be stupid bent.

I like the bumper wings. If you don't mind me prying, what was the cost/source for those?

No problem.. I got these used off Yahoo auctions. They were about $175 for the pair and other than a few minor scratches they were in great shape. They are about $300 new and not exactly what I would call "overbuilt" but not bad either. The company is called wildGoose and you can see them here...although they seem to be focusing on Jimny parts these days.

Thanks! I'm assuming your parts were the LE-0101 units. (My grasp of the Asian languages is sorely lacking :/ )

Three hundred for new isn't unreasonable, as Hefty fab bolt on wings were close to 700 IIRC. These look a lot lighter, but offer more protection than plastic at least.

Edit: a Google search found an importer for these to the US. The cost was $425, but the shipping was $845 additional for the boat ride!!! Air shipping was over 2 grand lol.

Did my best to air-blast, wash and clean the orange talcum-powder from Moab both inside and out (engine compartment was the worst). I think it will take a few washes to truly get it clean. It was worth going to CM, though.
