But yes, securing them to the ARB Bull is another question. I'd likely make a bracket that could accommodate all holes and put a locking nut on one of the three.

Why not just tack weld the nut after it's tight?

I would have placed the jack stands BEHIND the axle on the lower part of the frame so I could roll it out to the front, which is higher. That way I could leave the control arms installed, but if you're prepping and painting, maybe all that's getting pulled...

Just my opinion, man.

Started my newest restoration project inside today during -10 temps. Finally bagged a 40th to restore! Only thing to do in these temps is order parts and clean floor mats.

Check the heater control valve. They are suspect in no heat situations.

It appears to be working and hose gets hot when control is moved to the red side. Will pull it and see how it looks internally. Should look pretty obvious if it went bad?

I've tested them out briefly in the alley but haven't taken them on a drive yet since I'm in the middle of the Retrofit. Let me know if you (or anyone else) has any ideas for security on these. ie: locking bolts that fit with Baja Designs. There is only one bolt on the bottom to connect them with the ARB Bullbar which would worry me if I didn't have a garage.

I made a backing plate with the same 3-bolt pattern and then sandwiched the ARB mounting tab between the light bracket and the backing plate. I then put security nuts on all three mounting bolts and replaced the horizontal allen screws with security versions as well.

I think I would be going to Mcmaster-carr or fastenal for these type of screws for a whole lot cheaper. The Baja Designs website says 1/4-20 x 1/2 for the bolt size.

I would probably use drilled head screws to use safety wire.

My dad used to clear snow that way when I was a kid, built out of 8x8 spruce and some 2x12.

My younger brother and I would hang off the truss as he drove back and forth down the road and we’d laugh our tails off the whole way with fresh powder snow blasting up in the air and in our faces over the edges

Seems incredibly unsafe nowadays but I don’t think we ever got hurt. Fun times, worked pretty good.

Full commitment....I use red locktite on all my accessory light mounts. Eons ago, I had a set of legit aircraft landing lights on the bumper of a BMW 2002. Some loser "tried" to steal them. Came out the next morn and they were both all twisted and pointing in diff directions, and the turd left his adjustable wrench on bumper....I still have that wrench today. When I sold the car, I used a little torch and broke the locktite, subsequently lost the lights, but they were bad a$$$ (for the time period).

Hoo man, been a rough week. So my previous battery issue reared it's head this week. I was all looking forward to the snow here in Texas to go play in, despite that we wouldn't have any snow banks to flex on, since no plows. However, night before the big snow I went out and found the battery dead again. I pulled it into the garage and charged it up then let it sit overnight in the garage. Came out the next day and the voltage level had dropped. Well, not good.

Then we had to deal with 26 hours of no power and rolling power outages. All the fun of getting snow went out the window when you have to move to survival mode not knowing how long things are going to last. After getting power back in the house I did some MUD searching to find out what battery would be best, considering how much it's going to cost for a battery, and the consensus seems to be Interstate Batteries, which is good because they are a local company as I used to drive past their HQ on the way to work. Called Firestone and they are closed due to power issues, had phone forwarded to managers cell phone. I called NTB and they answered the phone but were closed and waiting on a plumber to come fix the burst pipe that was flooding the shop. So no battery till this weekend which means playing in the snow is not going to happen.

Still, having camping equipment sure did help with the power outage. I used the jet boil to make my coffee, and our sleeping bags helped keep us warm as we slept on mattresses on the living room floor by the fireplace. My non-camping neighbors had it worse for sure. So, yea, Texas snowmageddon was a bust.

I did play over the weekend trying to make a rig to vacuum wrap with vinyl my new front emblem. The rig worked great but it's too much stretching and kept tearing the vinyl so I gave up and mounted the bare chrome on the front in place of my old TEQ emblem. No pics of that though, but you know what they look like.

Also bad/good news. I'd planned on taking my son for our first adventure trip with the 80 over spring break, but my parents got the COVID vaccine and announced they are coming out here. No 80 adventure but my son getting to see his grandparents (and me my parents) for the first time in over a year will be well worth it. There will be other opportunities for adventure.
