I would guess that there strength was destroyed long ago and only now bit the dust on you.

Did some stuff in the snow
I painted my PS reservoir in VHT wrinkle black and popped it in the gas bbq grill to cure the paint, not realizing the reservoir is full of plastic parts, which melted into a stinky mess in the grill. On the bright side, the paint turned out great.

I already did a RTH thread on this but figured I'd throw it in here as well. Drove to Vegas for Thanksgiving. Uneventful. On the drive home on the other hand...
I was doing about 60 driving behind someone else on the slow lane. Not a ton of traffic but enough to not be able to speed. There is a truck lane on the far right that was unused so I decided to change lanes and maybe stop at Primm to get a Starbucks sugar-free vanilla latte, the drink of champions. Unfortunately there was something in that lane that I didn't notice until I moved into the lane. Quick swerve and my front wheel missed it but my back one nailed it. Hit hard. Decided to get off the frwy to check to see what damage was done. Then I slowed down enough to realize it started to feel like a bad tire blow out. Then about 5ft before stopping...the tire just fell off.
So that my wife wouldn't panic and bug me, I sent her to Starbucks. Gave her something to do.
The Metro truck came over and he knew there was nothing he could do but hung out til the tow truck got there. I called around for a rear hub, wheel studs and nuts. No one. Nothing. No where close. At all. Except for freaking O'Riellys on Rainbow in Vegas. An hour later and we were back in Vegas. It took me exactly two hours to strip everything down, knock out the broken studs and installed the new wheel studs and get back on the road. I had to use the draw-thru method of pulling the wheel studs thru the hub but I was out of options. All good but I think I need to replace the rest of the studs around the truck.

@ Dubbinchris - here are some details on my tripple battery setup. Let me know if you'd like any more pics or info.
This are the 2 batteries running in parallel on the PS.
For the battery tray I used heavy gauge (about 1/4" thick) galvanized channel/track…..roughly 7"×13.5" You can see that I folded the corners in and bolted them.
I drilled a hole in the middle on each side for the tie-down J-bolts/bracket.
Finally you can see I fastened a bracket onto the frame (not the best spot I know, but didn't have many choices).
This corner is fastened to the radiator/fan shroud.
Used existing welded nut to bolt this bracket.
(just noticed I forgot a bolt, unless it vibrated off….I'll have to keep an eye on that)
Used an existing mounting point here as well.
Had to relocate the windshield washer fluid of course. I didn't use any sort of bolt-down bracket….it's super tight in there….just tie-wired one side.
I got the National Luna solenoid super tight here.
And finally here is the National Luna controller.

How's the temp in the CVT? I've been curious about this.
early will have the stubs in the front diff and female inner axles. late will accept spuds, but take the male axles. either work fine.
andrewtech or rallispec? have worked with both.
my wife and i run a small subaru shop for a living. seen all sorts of brilliance, and the requisite stupidity to balance it out.
if you ever get stuck where nasioc, you tube, or your locals can't get you thru, send me a pm and i'll help as much as i can.
80 content: still love it. can't get enough! rained here all day, still have water in the back, still need to seal up the window trim.

Got some more wire and my Blue Sea fuse terminal. Less than four weeks until we leave on our 17 day, 4500 mile journey...
Bracket for shovel and axe came... not sure about it yet but will check with the axe. Seems good design...

First time ever using one but i give it 3 thumbs up! Ill fill you in when i do a detailed writeup on my build thread/here from the trip
did a paracord wrap on my steering wheel to cover up the tattered old leather. turned out well i think concidering it is my first time working with paracord.

i did put in new birfields and rebuilt the knuckles this weekend as well (surprisingly easy job I thought) no progress pics because, as anyone who has ever done this knows it is a incredibly messy job! Did get a pic of my part spread though!
I used Longfield Chromoly birfs in the stock shafts. Should be plenty for my needs.

I broke my passenger side view mirror. That's what I did this weekend. I try not to bang up the 80 when we trail ride but it happens. We headed up the mountain to an abandoned trapping camp. It's about 12 miles of tight trails, washed out roads, mud holes and about 4 miles of sand trails which is odd in our area(takes about an hour one way). I Just dropped down into a wash out with a high right side. Snorkel rested up against a high root on the wall and my all ready closed mirror was smashed pretty good up against the glass.
$46 on eBay. No big deal. But that's what I did this weekend

Love to see a Christmas tree harvest via a Land Cruiser. We got ours on Saturday here in KC and drove through the Plaza with a lot of honks and cheers. It will be a tradition for us now since we just got our '97.
For some perspective of the earlier photo with my RTT covered in snow, these two pictures were taken less than 2 days apart on the same trail within a quarter mile of each other. Friday afternoon, then Sunday morning

Lastly, anyone in norcal want to trade bumpers? Looking for a bigger one like an ARB. Mine is the original 4x4 labs prototype bumper from what i was told. Built by Luke, cant verify that though. It has some dings and scratches but is solid.
