What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (31 Viewers)

Started overhauling the front end this past weekend with the CruiserOutfitters kit (rotors, pads, tre's, seals, bearings). Got the DS done, beat the old TRE's out of the sleeve - that was a project and it goes much better if you're not tightening... Found some hackish work was preformed in the past. Missing 4 trunion bearing cone washers on the DS side. No gaskets, all permatex... DS side was pure birf soup... - have all 4 on the PS side, so I'll steal 2 from there and order 4. At 5PM tonight wife informs me that she needs the LC saturday morning to ferry some kids to the beach (she runs a saturday arts/education program). I broke 4 out of 6 of the 10mm wiper retainer bolts on the PS side tonight, have some left hand drill bits, so maybe that'll help tomorrow when I can get back at it. PS side birf had no seal leaks, but the grease in there was low and the red sticky type, and certainly didn't look like enough. Using Palladium on the birfs, about 2 tubes each side so far. Not a bad job, but greasy as all get out! Wish me luck.

FINALLY got all monitors into a Ready state - finding long stretches of road to perform the drive patterns is truly not easy. I previously had 2 monitors not ready, EGR and Catalyst.

Solved the P0401 and the P0420:

Two new O2 sensors
Two Magnaflo cats
fixed exhaust leak at the downpipe
VSV for EGR
EGR Modulator

Smog test complete, and passed visual, OBDII, and sniffer.

Ordered a canoe from Meyers Boats in Michigan on Monday. The S-14 Sportspal. It showed up today!! They are incredibly nice people.

Was planning on throwing the roof rack on tomorrow in preparation of the canoe showing up next week but will be trying to lift the rack up tonight instead to go canoeing tomorrow!

And yes, we actually have water here in Iowa. Unlike California...

Part of the front yard. We have awesome shade trees that I planted 38 years ago when my family moved here. You can't see the torn up grass from the widdle ball field in the front yard. Haha.

Not much backyard with the batting cage, deck, patio, and woods...

Geezus how big is the lot? That's million-dollar property for sure here in CA.

Hahaha. Just under an acre is cleared. It's nowhere near a million-dollar property here. Nice blue collar neighborhood. Put it this way, in November 1991 when I bought my 1992 80 my 80 cost more than the house cost when I paid it off for my mom in 1998. now it's worth about 1.5 200 series. Haha.

My house payment is less than my bosses' DC area tax bill; and my brother's waterfront property in NW Iowa is less than my tax bill.

A buddy of mine just bought 38 acres (30ish wooded) with a 2+ acre pond and a house for less than half a million. He's building a "tree stand" that is 750ft2 and will be heated and cooled. Unlimited $1 deer tags as a land owner. He's having the Iowa DNR stock the pond. We will be there every weekend.

I think he's finally convinced to buy an 80. Talked to him today and his "built" Cherokee got stuck in a mud puddle on his property. I asked him to send me pics. His response was "No way! You'll post them on the Land Cruiser forum. I'll post them myself when I buy one like yours." Hahaha

I've tried and failed miserably at installing my front coil spacers. I can't get the shocks off. They keep turning as a whole each time I try to undo the nut on the bottom. So, I stopped and had a beer.

Then I installed the front door garnish on both sides and the transmission inspection cover, all from beno.

@NLXTACY I need a Chang dude. Can't do it by myself.
