And when expanding your cut do it in an X pattern so you can use your finger underneath to feel if you are getting close to the edge of the shifter. Then just cut off the triangle that’s left over.That exactly how I did it. I started by making sure the drivers side floor was in the right position. Made a small cut for the gear shifter (just enough to get the shaft through) and dropped it down. Did the same for the 4x4 select.
Made very very small cut increments from there checking that all other parts of the carpet were still properly aligned.
Took quite a bit of time but I was deathly afraid of over cutting.
The hardest part is the transfer case 4x4 selector, particularly the lower passenger side area. Just remember leave enough to stuff under he boot.
