That exactly how I did it. I started by making sure the drivers side floor was in the right position. Made a small cut for the gear shifter (just enough to get the shaft through) and dropped it down. Did the same for the 4x4 select.
Made very very small cut increments from there checking that all other parts of the carpet were still properly aligned.
Took quite a bit of time but I was deathly afraid of over cutting.

The hardest part is the transfer case 4x4 selector, particularly the lower passenger side area. Just remember leave enough to stuff under he boot.
And when expanding your cut do it in an X pattern so you can use your finger underneath to feel if you are getting close to the edge of the shifter. Then just cut off the triangle that’s left over.

Slight hijack here, but wouldn't it be easier to remove the tranny shifter? Then lay the carpet over and cut the hole? The shifter is easy to remove. The transfer shifter not so much, but it's shorter so it would presumably be easier to locate the hole.

Looking at the CSF site. All their radiators for our years are black, yours seems to be aluminum.
His isn’t a CSF, it’s the aluminum one which the name escapes me, tho starts w/ an M.

It would be and Indidnt figure that out until I was further along

Drove to hear son play in Jazz band at college Friday night. Then spent the next day visiting a brick factory in the middle of nowhere. And then went to at a friends property unloading all the rounds I loaded the weekend before. Amazing how a well made pistol feels in your hand.

Your observation is correct! It is aluminum, however, it's made by Champion rather than CSF. $180 on EBay.
Shut the front door! Dude did you get a kicking deal.

I'm gonna add that modified petcock/down spout you've been asking about. I think my ace hardware has it in stock so long as the threads are standard.

I did mine. You won’t find squat at Ace. I tapped for 1/2” and ordered a draincock from Napa. All in all I spent maybe $25. It holds great. I fed it in so the port won’t point at the frame.

BeBe got a new paint job for her cake day. 9/29/12 was when I brought her home, 9/29/18 she got the last bit of body work and new color to cover it..

Straight forward? Any fab needed or is it a direct bolt up?

Will check it out. Txs

We have a hardware store in Boulder that was once an independently owned hardware store and it had been around since the 50's. For many decades it was the only hardware/feed store in these parts. It's like Walmart of hardware. Anything you can think of they have ten different options plus something you never knew existed. They got bought out by Ace recently. A lot of their old stock has been for sale super cheap. However they're slowly degrading the store to a chinsey version of homedepot.
Anyhow, I know they have the spout I need, I'm just no sure what thread pitch the champion rad uses.

Straight forward! I did cut my fan shroud in half and one side of the top half only has a single bolt holding it on. If I had thought about it I would have drilled out an extra hole to bolt it down. Is not a big deal, I don't think. We'll see if it rattles around while I'm driving. Maybe I'll mod it later on.

Was that draincock installed in the radiator?

Yes. Drain puck (as the guy at Napa referred to it) allowed a 1/2” tap easily. So far it’s good. Been driving the truck pretty full time for the last 3-4 number of weeks w/ zero issues.

Nice. Metal looks fairly thick in the spot you chose.

Got a nice little package from DHL today
