When I first got my Tundra a state trooper pulled me over in the middle of nowhere West Texas....had no idea why, missing front plate...at least he just wrote me a warning.
The truck didn’t even have a mount for the front plate, had to order one.
My friend's dad got pulled over in Florida in one of the new impalas back in the day. He thought for sure he was going to jail for driving 107 mph. Cop just wanted to know what engine he had and how much trunk space it had cuz the department had just ordered them for the fleet!
View attachment 1797646 Monday, but got it registered in Colorado
and promptly drove it to a trail head. Didn’t even take time to mount front plate, you can see it on the dash.
If you have to be in a state that requires a front plate, there are less attractive ones than Colorado. I personally like a front plate of my choice. American flag front plates are on my two Sequoias. Used to have an AZ flag plate on the 62. Not sure which I'll go with when the restoration is complete.
If it is the law, just run one. Yes some do not look pretty, but for me it is not worth the ticket. Same as the rear and having a light. My aftermarket bumper had a LED light in the box for the tag. While I used a different one. I mounted mine with a light. Cus, why not.
Started it and drove it up to the store, put some fuel in it and drove it home. It is going back into the garage to finish some minor things and some rust work. Then it will get driven much more and hopefully I will have some nice pictures to post.
I want to make a comment on the simple modification of cutting your fan shroud in half!
I have too say this by far the best mod for these cruisers. It sure makes it easy to get to your WP belts...etc.
Anyone who hasn’t done it do it!
With that last post!
I removed the water pump to chase a leak that suddenly developed. Turns out it was the three screws that hold the rear plate of the water pump. I remiv d it and laid some FIPG clamped it and let it set.
Now just waiting on a WP gasket arriving tomorrow.
Getting ready to swap out an alternator and have seen this mod in a few threads. Your second picture persuaded me this will be a preliminary part of the job.
Unfortunately it was time to head home. One last FR, 118 near Antonio mountain to give the dogs a little break.
As always when you spend a lot of time with something or someone you find their flaws. The shackle bushing are shot so I guess it’s time for old man emu. The parking brake didn’t hold on a very steep section so rear brakes and...
Finally installed my @dnp carpet kit and floor mats
. Looks like it did when it came out of the factory. With all of the cuts that needed to be made this was a two day exercise and falls into the “once done will never be attempted again category”.
Looks great...I have the back of mine done but have not done the middle and the front as I get my H55 next week and wanted to get that in first. I do have the butyl mat down like you did. Did you also use jute? I have it and am contemplating using it in addition to the sound deadener as I have learned how hot the floor can get driving it around like this for a couple months.

I did use Jute in the cardio area and upfront. The carpet kit came with jute but I added a layer in the front.
With sound deadener, jute and carpet it’s quiet....for a crusher.
Ya, seems that if you don’t use your 8274, you loose it. was purchased brand new 3.5 years ago, never needed to use it. Tried pulling out the free spool clutch release handle and it wouldn’t budge.
So I asked MUD. pulled it apart and this what if found. WTF??????
What a pain in the Ass. New part arrived in 2 days.
Removed all original wire cable as well.
