Feel like 103* today and the garage was 109* Nice!
Well more work, painted the hood (it was trashed due to the bedliner) Painted it rat rod black (yes that is a color per Eastwoods)
Anyways the hood is seriously screwed and it will be a body shop to fix it later.
Painted the parts that I repaired by the window.
Also wired up the lights in the rear bumper
Replaced some lights on the dash panel and wired up my gauges.

full paint job will be September

pack rats
Honestly?! Ack! And totally brilliant move to put the truck in the water. Rats are nasty. I used to love it when they had babies at the nature center cuz it meant feeding day for the reps.

a year ago i would have said the 3FE is too little power for these trucks. but really it’s just gearing - and the stupid nature of a fluid coupling through a torque converter. what a difference a direct connection makes!! the engine is pretty nice

I agree. The 3FE is no powerhouse, but it's adequate. Much better with an H55f. Sounds like you and the rats are in equilibrium. Good job.

Just a suggestion. You might want to flip your toggle clamp. If it drags or gets caught on brush it might allow the arm to swing open and slam into your quarter panel if your pop pin gets left in the open position by mistake. Not to mention damage the clamp itself. Also, look to put a swing arm stop on the spindle to keep the arm from free swinging if it does come loose, if you haven't already.

Got the front part of the the 2" Tough dog lift done. What it replaced was the original shocks and springs. Cant wait to get the rear on.
I know it doesn't look like much but I cleaned up under there a bit too with some degreaser, wire brush, large flat head and a power washer. After the pooled up water/sludge dried, it amounted to an entire regular size dust pan of greasy dirt.
Thanks again @reevesci and to all the info on mud.

@WharfRat if you haven't bought them yet, the Cibie 82440 H4 assembly is worth considering vs the Hella. There may be a kit but the link is to an individual housing - there's a better cutoff and pattern in my opinion and it will drop in just the same.

getting ready for my next big project - the rite of passage...

wouldn't know by looking at this mess...but twice degreased and pressure washed the knuckles - almost like an archaeological excavation to find bolt heads.

placed order with Georg for the rebuild kit + a few other misc items.

Installed the new mirrors . The old ones were not adjustable anymore and were fully seized up.
New ones have a convex mirror, much better viewing out of them.
They are genuine Toyota 78 series mirrors.

camping & fly fishing on the owyhee river - 2 sleepless nights doing battle with pack rats rummaging around the engine bay.
3rd night epiphany - a moat!!

800+ miles round trip. averaged 16mpg on the highway.

H55 transmission swap the best thing in the world. able to cruise at 70 with ease and keep up 60/65 mph on hill climbs dropping to 4th.
So jealous

89BigBlue here you go
Also received my new Wits End fan clutch and a box full of parts that my wife's aunt brought over from Japan. Will be very busy for a bit.

Swapped my engine to a diesel 1HD-T in my 60. This diesel engine was never sold in Canada or the States.
Parts for the engine aren't readily available here in Canada.
Or our one month trip to the Grand Canyon we had some issues so I purchased many new parts for
the engine. Head gasket, exhaust, intake gasket. Oil supply for turbo , head-bolts and many other new parts.

How do I reduce the file size when I post a picture ?? Help someone please !!

I wondered the same thing...

What do you think of these cream colored stripes? It's a $10 ebay vinyl kit. I goofed a bit on the rear door but not enough to make me want to redo it. I didn't really lay it out like you're supposed to, but it came out reasonably straight. Only spent 30 mins on it and free hand cut the ends with a razor blade. Ready to be removed at a moments notice :)

Nice 80’s retro look.

How do I reduce the file size when I post a picture ?? Help someone please !!

depends on the imaging tool you're using - what operating system you're running on your computer...but most image programs - even basic ones will let you open a jpeg - and export - or "save-as" and reduce the image size and/or file size
